The fact that Billie Eilish waited until she had a pair of Academy Awards to her name before releasing her first movie to theaters is rather incredible. The singer-songwriter scored nearly back-to-back Best Original Song Oscars, first for “No Time to Die” from the James Bond film of the same name, and then two years later, with “What Was I Made For?” the standout ballad from Barbie.

Eilish didn’t pivot into acting – at least not in a major way. Instead, she teamed up with Oscar-winning director James Cameron to co-direct and produce a concert film centered around her last album, Hit Me Hard and Soft, which is officially titled Billie Eilish: Hit Me Hard and Soft — The Tour Live in 3D. It became a quick box office win all around the world, as it seems that everything the superstar touches turns to gold.

In its opening weekend in America alone, the concert film debuts as the fifth-highest-grossing movie with just over $7 million made, and it’s the third-highest rising new arrival. Eilish’s movie comes with a live album, and fans in the United Kingdom have turned it into an immediate bestseller in that country.

Billie Eilish Debuts Hit Me Hard and Soft – The Tour

Hit Me Hard and Soft — The Tour debuts on four rankings in the U.K. this week. Eilish’s latest opens inside the top 10 – the top five, in fact – on all but one of them. The talented young performer starts Hit Me Hard and Soft — The Tour at No. 3 on the Official Vinyl Albums tally, and No. 5 on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums rosters simultaneously.

Billie Eilish Charts Another Top 10 Bestseller

Eilish scores her fourth top 10 on both the Official Albums Sales and Official Physical Albums charts, which detail the top-selling titles in the U.K. and the bestselling releases on CD, cassette or vinyl, respectively. Hit Me Hard and Soft — The Tour is the singer’s first project that is not a traditional studio album to break into the loftiest tier.

Billie Eilish’s Top 10s on the U.K. Vinyl Chart

Eilish has collected one additional top 10 bestseller on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, which, as its name suggests, looks only at projects offered for sale on wax. In addition to her three studio LPs – When We All Fall Asleep, Where Do We Go?, Happier Than Ever and Hit Me Hard and Soft – Eilish’s introductory Don’t Smile at Me EP has also reached that region. The short set, which debuted in November 2018 on the vinyl roster, climbed as high as No. 7.

Hit Me Hard and Soft Keeps Multiplying

Amazingly, three versions of Hit Me Hard and Soft have now placed on both the Official Physical Albums and Official Vinyl Albums charts. The original soared all the way to No. 1, while later in 2024, only months after the first take became a global bestseller, Hit Me Hard and Soft (Isolated Vocals) cracked the top 40.

On the Official Albums Sales chart, the most competitive of all purchase-centric rankings in the U.K., an incredible four takes on the project have appeared at least for one week. The actual Hit Me Hard and Soft only managed one frame at No. 1, but it has held on for more than 100 weeks. Just a month after Hit Me Hard and Soft debuted, a slightly reworked edition titled Hit Me Hard and Soft — Slowed and Reverb spent a single stint at No. 99. Since then, both Hit Me Hard and Soft (Isolated Vocals) and now Hit Me Hard and Soft — The Tour have also become strong performers.

Billie Eilish Reaches a Career Low with Her Live Set

On the Official Albums chart, which details the 100 most-consumed collections in the U.K. using a methodology that includes both sales and streams, Hit Me Hard and Soft — The Tour earns Eilish her fifth career appearance. As the live collection opens at No. 29, it brings the Grammy winner to a new career low. Previously, only the Don’t Smile at Me EP failed to enter the top 10, but it came close, as it peaked at No. 12.
