Michael Jackson’s forward surge on charts all around the world continues this week, even as his biopic, Michael, which is largely responsible for the uptick in consumption, slips at the box office. Fans of Jackson didn’t turn solely to streaming platforms to listen to his albums, compilations and singles, though the past several periods have been among his biggest on those websites. Purchases of everything Jackson recorded during his lifetime, as well as several projects that were released following his passing more than a decade ago, spiked dramatically, and even continue to grow on one hugely competitive sales ranking in the United Kingdom. Several of Jackson’s collections not only rise this time around, but establish new peak positions in the country.

Michael Jackson Claims Seven Bestselling Albums

On this week’s Official Albums Sales chart, Jackson scores seven bestsellers. Five of those titles reach new high points on the U.K.’s look at the top-selling full-lengths and EPs of any style. The ranking takes into account purchases on CD, cassette, vinyl and via download stores like iTunes.

Five Michael Jackson Albums Reach New Peaks

Two of those five Jackson releases that claim new highs push into the top 10. Thriller soars from No. 14 to No. 5, while the Number Ones compilation ascends from No. 16 to No. 7. Bad and Off the Wall sit side-by-side at Nos. 17 and 18, respectively. In only its third week on the list, Dangerous pushes from No. 80 to No. 74 – a more impressive position than it has ever seen before.

Michael and The Essential Keep Selling Well

Another two Jackson projects also rank among the 100 bestselling in the U.K., but they do not dance to new highs. Michael — Songs From the Motion Picture, which was released to coincide with the film of the same name, lifts from No. 18 to No. 13. In the past, it has soared all the way to No. 4. Last time around, The Essential hit its all-time peak of No. 43. Now it declines to No. 55.

Michael Jackson Remains a Powerhouse on Vinyl

Many of Jackson’s top-performing titles sell so well because fans want to own them on wax. Jackson occupies a quintet of rungs on the Official Vinyl Albums chart, but unlike on the more all-encompassing Official Albums Sales tally, only two of his bestsellers reach new peak positions.

Thriller moonwalks from No. 9 to No. 3. Only a pair of arrivals – Stardust by Freya Skye and the soundtrack that accompanies the movie Peaky Blinders — The Immortal Man, which open at Nos. 1 and 2, respectively – keep Jackson from another No. 1.

Lower on the list, Bad steps up from No. 17 to No. 13, which is also a new high point for that blockbuster. Also present on the Official Vinyl Albums chart this week are Off the Wall (No. 12), Number Ones (No. 9) and Michael(No. 39). Of that bunch, only the latter project fails to ascend this period.
