Topline

President Donald Trump assailed Republicans who joined Democrats in voting Wednesday to end the Iran war, calling it a “meaningless” vote—and while the resolution faces a tough road to full passage, it indicates growing discontent with the war.

Key Facts

Trump criticized the “4 bad Republicans and all of the Dumocrats” who voted for the resolution to prevent Trump from conducting more strikes on Iran, calling it “a meaningless vote” in a post Thursday on Truth Social.

Trump said the resolution comes “right in the middle of my final negotiations to end the war,” as the president has said for weeks they’re nearing a peace deal, yet strikes from both sides have continued.

The House voted 215-208 to approve the resolution after numerous failed attempts in both chambers since the start of the war in February.

Republican Reps. Thomas Massie, R-Ky., Tom Barrett, R-Mich., Warren Davidson, R-Ohio, and Brian Fitzpatrick, R-Pa., voted Wednesday alongside Democrats in favor of the measure.

It’s unlikely the resolution will be enacted—it requires support from some senators to pass the upper chamber, and even if it passes the Senate, Trump would almost certainly veto it.

This is a developing story and will be updated.
