Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department only slipped off several U.K. charts for the first time less than a month ago, but it is already back. Taylor Swift ranks high on the list of artists that have scored the most No. 1 albums in United Kingdom history. The singer-songwriter adds to her career total every time she releases a new project, and it’s not uncommon for her to keep her sets on the throne for weeks or perhaps months at a time. Even when one of Swift’s albums steps away from the highest rung on the Official Albums chart – the U.K.’s list of the most-consumed full-lengths and EPs – her collections typically hang on for years.
Recently, The Tortured Poets Department finally vanished from the most competitive albums ranking in the U.K., but as it turns out, fans in that nation aren’t done with the title.
Taylor Swift’s The Tortured Poets Department Returns
The Tortured Poets Department returns to two rankings in the U.K. this week. The Grammy-nominated release reappears at No. 85 on the Official Albums Streaming tally, and it narrowly manages to sneak back onto the Official Albums chart, where it can currently be found at No. 98.
The Tortured Poets Department Reappears Quickly After Disappearing
It’s only been a few weeks since The Tortured Poets Department finally dropped off of both of those rosters. On the charts dated May 28, Swift’s longest studio LP disappeared from both the Official Albums and Official Albums Streaming charts for the first time since debuting more than two years ago. The Tortured Poets Department arrived at No. 1 in May 2024, becoming an instant winner when it came to streams and sales, and of course, general consumption.
Taylor Swift’s Set Has Charted for 110 Weeks
The Tortured Poets Department has now spent 110 weeks on both charts where it currently appears. It stands as her longest-running ruler on the two rosters, with nine weeks spent on top of the Official Albums Streaming tally, and 11 – nearly 10% of its entire lifespan on the list – on the Official Albums chart.
Taylor Swift Charts Two Albums on the Same Lists
Swift claims two placements on the registers where The Tortured Poets Department reappears this week. Her more recent full-length, The Life of a Showgirl, which she continues to promote via multiple singles, rises slightly, improving to No. 52 on both rosters. The Life of a Showgirl also once again counts as a bestseller, even as it slips from No. 70 to No. 91 on the Official Album Downloads chart. The Life of a Showgirl has already dominated all three of those tallies and is up to 35 weeks on each and every one of them.

Fearless (Taylor’s Version) Holds On as Well
Three projects by Swift take up space on U.K. charts this frame, but unlike both The Life of a Showgirl and The Tortured Poets Department, Fearless (Taylor’s Version) cannot be found on the main albums rundown, nor the list that focuses entirely on streaming activity. The re-recorded take on Fearless sits at No. 14, down three pegs, on the Official Country Artists Albums chart.
Taylor Swift Scores Three Hit Singles This Week
None of Swift’s trio of hit songs in the U.K. at the moment come from The Tortured Poets Department. It appears, based on the charts the album inhabits, that continued plays of fan favorites, and the project in its entirety, are to thank for its continued success. Three singles from The Life of a Showgirl – “The Fate of Ophelia,” “Opalite” and “Elizabeth Taylor” – land on multiple rankings.
