Real Madrid and its president Florentino Perez are preparing what has been described as a “scandalous” world record transfer offer for Bayern Munich star Michael Olise according to SPORT and El Debate, citing anonymous sources.
Olise is currently lighting up the World Cup in North America. On Tuesday at the MetLife Stadium, he equalled and then surpassed Brazil’s Bruno Guimaraes with a pair of assists that now put him on five in total.
One of the set ups was for Kylian Mbappe to lead the Golden Boot rankings on six goals ahead of FC Barcelona idol Lionel Messi.
That connection is something Perez would love to see happen on a regular basis at the Bernabeu.
According to SPORT and El Debate, the President is preparing a “scandalous” offer aimed at convincing the Bavarians to sell their star right winger.
It’d entail paying $216.5 million (€190 million) up front and then a further $37.5 million (€33 million) in bonuses if certain objectives are hit.
That’d bring a grand total of $254 million, or €223 million, which is significant in the soccer market.
That’s because such a sum would break that world transfer record of €222 million ($253 million) which has stood since 2017.
In summer of said year, Paris Saint-Germain triggered Neymar’s release clause at Barça, and football was never the same again.
Perez wants to make history one more time, boosted by previously winning another mandate in the presidential election at the expense of younger candidate Enrique Riquelme.
Olise is believed to be Real Madrid’s true big money target
When he was on the campaign trail, Perez promised three new signings including now appointed head coach Jose Mourinho, plus a $171 million (€150 million) bid for an unnamed player.
Once Real Madrid members voted him in again, Perez kept his word by launching a tabling said amount for Julian Alvarez, which was knocked back by Atletico Madrid.
Many think that Perez wasn’t serious about Alvarez, and that this was merely a means of keeping his word and also sabotaging Barça’s attempts to sign the Argentine.
Alvarez has reportedly agreed to join the Catalans for five years, but they are now struggling to raise the funds to deliver him after being quoted the €150 million sum thanks to Madrid.
As for Olise, Bayern Munich has insisted it isn’t a selling club. Were Perez finally to get his man, however, he’d face very little competition for minutes on the Real Madrid right wing under Jose Mourinho.
