Bali is Establishing Special Economic Zones. South Lombok Could Be Next.

Indonesia is demonstrating how strategic planning, infrastructure investment and investor-friendly policies can transform entire regions into economic powerhouses.

Bali is already leading the way through the establishment of Special Economic Zones (SEZs), with the Sanur Health Special Economic Zone becoming one of the country’s flagship developments.

Centred around world-class healthcare, medical tourism, hotels, wellness facilities and supporting infrastructure, the Sanur SEZ has attracted hundreds of millions of dollars in investment and positioned Bali as an emerging international destination for health and wellness tourism.

Another major SEZ development is also progressing in Bali, further reinforcing Indonesia’s long-term strategy of creating globally competitive investment hubs.

These projects provide a blueprint for what can be achieved when government and private enterprise work together.

At LUX Property Group, we believe South Lombok has the potential to follow a similar path.

Our flagship development, Nesara Bay City, is being master planned as an integrated eco-city incorporating luxury resorts, hotels, residential communities, wellness precincts, retail villages, marinas and a major convention and exhibition centre.

As part of that long-term vision, we intend to work collaboratively with government to explore the possibility of the broader South Lombok region ultimately seeking designation as a Special Economic Zone.

While no such designation has been approved and any decision rests entirely with the Indonesian Government, we believe South Lombok possesses many of the characteristics that could support such a vision over time.

These include its spectacular coastline, growing tourism appeal, proximity to existing tourism infrastructure, expanding airport access, abundant development land and increasing international investor interest.

A future Special Economic Zone could help accelerate investment into tourism, healthcare, education, technology, marinas, renewable energy, hotels, convention facilities and supporting infrastructure, creating jobs and driving long-term economic growth throughout the region.

For investors, this represents the opportunity to participate in the early stages of what could become one of Indonesia’s next major development corridors.

The vision behind Nesara Bay City has never been simply to build another property project.

It is to help create a sustainable destination where tourism, business, lifestyle and environmental stewardship work together to generate prosperity for local communities while delivering long-term value for investors.

Indonesia has already shown through Bali’s successful Special Economic Zones what is possible with strategic planning and public-private collaboration.

We believe South Lombok has the potential to become the next exciting chapter in that success story.
