9 Cycling-Themed Breweries To Enjoy During The Tour De France

Cycling and craft beer share a common demographic. When visiting a brewery taproom, it is not uncommon to see cyclists gathered over pints after a group ride. For this reason, many breweries have cycling themes.

As the Tour de France takes to the roadways of France—and a little bit of Spain—cycling fans can enjoy beers while watching the 21 stages of the race. This year’s favorite is UAE Team Emirates team leader Tadej Pogačar. Pogačar is the defending winner of the yellow jersey and in 2026 hopes to win his fifth title.

Pogačar’s main challenger is 2022 and 2023 Tour winner Jonas Vingegaard, who recently won the Giro d’Italia. The top-ranked American cyclist in this year’s edition of the Tour is Matteo Jorgenson of Team Visma Lease a Bike.

For those not fortunate enough to follow the tour in France, here are 10 breweries to enjoy while cheering on the riders.

Crank Arm Brewing (Raleigh, North Carolina)

Crank Arm Brewing was founded in Raleigh by cycling and beer loving friends. It now boasts a second location in Durham.

From Bike Lite Lager, a non-alcoholic beer, to BBA Attack Position Imperial Fudge Stout kicking up 11.0% ABV, Crank Arm Brewing beers can be enjoyed in their two taprooms and statewide in North Carolina.

Bike Dog Brewing (West Sacramento, California)

Bike Dog Brewing was founded in 2013 as a nano brewery. It now sells its beers through three taprooms in the Sacramento area and self distributes in northern California and parts of Nevada. Those beers cover a broad array of styles, though as is appropriate for a California brewery, there is an emphasis on west cost IPAs.

Bike Rack Brewing (Bentonville, Arizona)

Bentonville is often referred to as the mountain biking capital of the world, with an extensive trail network and jump parks.

Bentonville is also home to Bike Rack Brewing, whose taproom offers about 15 beers on tap and several more in cans. Those beers can be purchased and enjoyed throughout northwest Arkansas.

Pedals & Pints Brewing (Thousand Oaks, California)

Pedals & Pints Brewing is a brewpub with about a dozen beers available in their Thousand Oaks taproom, along with a full food menu. Although the brewery does not distribute its beers, it does sell them in cans for take away from the brewery.

Breakaway Brewing (San Antonio, Texas)

Texas was home to Lance Armstrong, America’s most infamous Tour de France racer. It is also home to Breakaway Brewing, a brewpub in San Antonio.

Breakaway brews everything from classic styles like Vienna lager to modern beers like Italian pilsner. A dozen beers are served alongside a full menu emphasizing burgers and sandwiches. Breakaway beers are not distributed outside the brewpub.

The Garage Bikes + Brews (River Falls, Wisconsin)

The Garage Bikes + Brews is a full-service bike shop that happens to brew beer. Their le coureur protégé beer is Big Johnson Lager, but they also serve a rotating line up of beers from their River Falls location, just east of Minneapolis, Minnesota.

Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery (Seattle, Washington)

Flying Bike Cooperative Brewery was Washington’s first cooperative brewery. Not only is the brewery owned by the brewery members, but those members contribute to beer recipes—over 500 of them since the cooperative was founded in 2011. Availability of those beers, many of which carry beer-related names, is restricted to Seattle.

Chainline Brewing Company (Kirkland, Washington)

Flying Bike is not Washington’s only cycling-themed brewery. In nearby Kirkland, just north of Bellevue, Chainline Brewing Company links beer lovers with house brewed beers in their two locations. The brewery offers five regular beers: three lagers and two IPAs. Half a dozen limited releases are also available. In addition to the taprooms, Chainline beers can be found around Washington State.
