Drake Blocked From Charting Two New No. 1 Hits By The Same Song

Drake Nearly Scores Another Rhythmic Airplay No. 1

On this week’s Rhythmic Airplay chart, Drake nearly earns a new leader. “Shabang,” one of several singles from Iceman currently being promoted to radio, lifts three spaces from No. 5 to No. 2. That’s a new high for the cut.

Drake Jumps to No. 2 With Another Single

Over on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay tally, Drake is also forced to settle for second place, but with a different song. “2 Hard 4 The Radio” leaps from No. 8 to No. 2, establishing a new peak at the same time as “Shabang” on its related roster.

Young Miami Blocks Drake on Two Billboard Charts

In both instances, “Shabang” and “2 Hard 4 The Radio” are blocked by the same track. Yung Miami’s “Spend Dat” is a non-mover at No. 1 on both the Rhythmic Airplay and Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay rankings. In the coming weeks, Drake could reach the summit with either of his current runners-up — or perhaps both.

Drake Already Claims Dozens of Radio No. 1s

Drake already claims one of the greatest accumulations of smash hits on both radio rankings. He is up to 81 top 10s and 45 No. 1s on the Rhythmic Airplay tally. His counts are even greater on the Mainstream R&B/Hip-Hop Airplay list. A total of 94 Drake songs have climbed into the top 10, and 46 of them have conquered the roster for at least one period.

Drake Has Nine No. 2-Peaking Rhythmic Chart Hits

On the Rhythmic Airplay ranking, “Shabang” is one of nine tracks by Drake that have risen as high as No. 2 and stopped there. Another pair of singles from Iceman, “Janice STFU” and “2 Hard 4 The Radio,” performed even better. Those two tracks took turns ruling the tally, with Drake controlling the roster throughout much of July.

That roundup now includes “2 Hard 4 The Radio,” as well as “Janice STFU,” which previously stalled in the runner-up space. “Shabang” has so far only pushed to No. 8 on the tally, though it may continue to grow in the coming weeks.
