Decades after his passing, Frank Sinatra is still regarded as a musical legend, and he likely always will be. He was one of the first superstars in the recorded music industry, which was still relatively new when he got his start. Sinatra parlayed his musical success into a film career, built an empire and developed a catalog that has lasted long after his death.
Sinatra is one of the oldest acts to regularly appear on the Billboard charts. His name can often be found on the company’s jazz rankings, as these days his musical output typically fits under that label. This frame, multiple collections by the late crooner return together, and the two titles are very close to celebrating the same milestone.
Two Frank Sinatra Albums Return to the Same Billboard Chart
Sinatra at the Sands and Ultimate Christmas both return to the Jazz Albums chart this week, and the two titles sit side-by-side. The former reenters at No. 23, while the holiday collection – a surprise winner, considering the annual uptick in listening of Christmas tunes hasn’t started yet – follows immediately at No. 24.
Both albums are nearing 100 weeks on the Jazz Albums tally, Billboard’s ranking of the most-consumed jazz full-lengths and EPs in the United States. Like most of the company albums lists, the roster is compiled using both sales and streaming activity. Sinatra at the Sands is up to 98 weeks, while Ultimate Christmas is one frame ahead at 99. It is likely that both releases may reach triple digit frames on the chart in the coming months – or perhaps in only a few days.
Frank Sinatra Has Charted 55 Jazz Albums
An incredible 55 projects credited to Sinatra have appeared on the Jazz Albums chart, and all but 15 of them have spent time inside the top 10. A number of those releases have held on for at least 100 frames. That roundup includes Sinatra: Duets – 20th Anniversary (Deluxe Edition), Ultimate Sinatra: The Centennial Collection, Nothing but the Best and Ultimate Sinatra, which have clocked 161, 205, 318 and 401 weeks on the roster, respectively.
Frank Sinatra Doubles His Showing
Sinatra fills four spaces on the Jazz Albums chart this week, doubling his showing compared to last frame as Sinatra at the Sands and Ultimate Christmas reappear. Ultimate Sinatra is stuck at No. 2 behind Sade’s The Best of Sade, which is a non-mover at No. 1. Another one of his compilations, Nothing but the Best, is also comfortable at No. 12.
Three of Sinatra’s four current Jazz Albums wins have controlled the roster in the past. The singer has racked up seven No. 1s on the ranking throughout his career, and three of those champions appear this frame. Sinatra at the Sands is the lone exception, as it missed out on ruling by only a few spaces when it peaked at No. 5 in August 2020.
Among Sinatra’s current hits, Ultimate Sinatra easily stands as his longest-running ruler, with 157 frames on top – just over three years at No. 1. Nothing but the Best has racked up 32 stays in the penthouse, while Ultimate Christmas managed seven, at least so far.
Frank Sinatra Ties Laufey for the Most Wins This Week
As a pair of his projects return, Sinatra ties another artist for the most appearances on this week’s Jazz Albums chart. Laufey also occupies four spaces. Three of her titles live inside the top 10, as Bewitched, A Matter of Time and Everything I Know About Love settle at Nos. 3, 4 and 8, respectively. Her EP Typical of Me lands at No. 18 this time around.

Frank Sinatra Rules the Traditional Jazz Albums Chart
Sinatra also fills two slots on the Traditional Jazz Albums chart. Ultimate Sinatra holds at No. 1, while Nothing but the Best bookends the top 10 at No. 10. The two compilations have become especially durable wins for Sinatra on Billboard’s jazz-focused rankings, as Ultimate Sinatra is now up to 396 weeks on the Traditional Jazz Albums tally, while Nothing but the Best reaches 289.
