Felix Rosenqvist, the winner of the 110th Indianapolis 500 on May 24, will be hailed as a conquering hero in his hometown of Värnamo, Sweden on Saturday, December 5. Värnamo will host a public celebration honoring Rosenqvist for his win in the biggest race in the world at the Indianapolis Motor Speedway.
Rosenqvist’s victory is historic because he defeated Team Penske’s David Malukas by 0.0233-of-a-second in the closest finish in Indianapolis 500 history. Rosenqvist’s No. 60 Honda nudged past Malukas’ No. 12 Team Verizon Chevrolet just one second before crossing the finish line.

Local residents, motorsports fans and visitors from are invited to join the city in celebrating Rosenqvist’s historic victory in the Indianapolis 500. It will take place in central Värnamo, with Rosenqvist as the guest of honor.
“Celebrating an Indy 500 victory in my hometown will be an unforgettable way to conclude the best year of my life,” Rosenqvist “Sharing an occasion like this with everyone in Värnamo, where the dream began, will feel completely surreal. It will truly be one of those pinch-me moments.
“It is truly amazing to think that we will all be able to experience and share this together,” Rosenqvist adds. “I am really looking forward to seeing friends, family and everyone else in Värnamo in December.”
Details Of Värnamo’s Celebration For Felix Rosenqvist
A public celebration with a motorsports theme will include tributes from the stage, interviews, live music and motorsports-themed activities. The ambition is to create a warm and memorable celebration for dedicated racing fans and the wider public
“Felix Rosenqvist’s success is an outstanding achievement that has inspired tremendous pride and joy throughout Värnamo,” said Staffan Svensson, Project Manager and Destination Development Officer at Värnamo Municipality. “We want to give the people of Värnamo and the motorsports community an opportunity to celebrate him together, while also showcasing the strong sense of community and local pride that exists here,”
Representatives from IndyCar will take part in the celebration. Additional news and highlights will be announced closer to the event.
“IndyCar’s involvement makes the celebration even more unique,” Svensson said. “We are proud to welcome them to Värnamo and give the public a rare opportunity to experience the international world of motorsports up close. We look forward to sharing more details in the coming months.”
Sweden’s Influence On IndyCar
The event is being jointly organized by Värnamo Näringsliv, Värnamo City and Värnamo Municipality.
“This partnership reflects the strong sense of community that makes Värnamo what it is,” said Anki Hansson of Värnamo Näringsliv. “Together, we want to create a public celebration that honors Felix while also welcoming visitors to Värnamo.”
IndyCar is broadcast in Sweden via Viaplay. There are two drivers that compete in the NTT IndyCar Series including Marcus Ericsson of Andretti Global who won the Indianapolis 500 in 2022 when he raced for Chip Ganassi Racing. He was honored in Sweden that same year.
Just four years later, it’s Felix Rosenqvist’s turn to be honored in his hometown of Värnamo, Sweden as an Indy 500 winner.
