Miley Cyrus clearly wanted to quickly move on from her 2025 album Something Beautiful. While the pop singer hyped the project and even created a short film to accompany the set, Something Beautiful and its singles largely underperformed. They only spent a handful of weeks on the Billboard charts, and within about a month, the era was essentially over.
Cyrus, who now goes simply by Miley, returns this week with a new album titled Bass Persuades. She only let fans know of the existence of the project shortly before the full-length launched, and the title track and first single arrived a week before the set.
“Bass Persuades” debuts on the Billboard charts this week and becomes a strong seller – and it almost turned out to be the bestselling cut in the United States.
Miley’s “Bass Persuades” Debuts at No. 2
“Bass Persuades” debuts at No. 2 on this week’s Digital Song Sales chart. Luminate reports the track sold 3,500 copies on platforms like iTunes throughout the U.S. in the most recent tracking period.
Miley Misses Her Fourth No. 1 by Only One Spot
Cyrus misses out on her fourth No. 1 on the Digital Song Sales chart by only a single rung. She has led the charge with three tunes: “Party in the U.S.A.,” “Flowers” and “Wrecking Ball.” The first of that bunch remains her longest-running leader, with half a dozen frames on top to its credit. “Flowers” follows with five, while “Wrecking Ball” only commanded the tally once.

Miley Has Scored 22 Digital Song Sales Top 10s
Cyrus is one of the more successful artists on the Digital Song Sales ranking. She’s up to 71 total appearances, although at least a dozen of those tunes would not reach the list these days. Billboard shortened the roster several years back, first from 100 rungs to 50 and then down to 25, where it sits at the moment.
22 of those cuts have spent time within the top 10. She added to that sum earlier this year with “Younger You” from the Hannah Montana twentieth-anniversary special, which launched in sixth place back in April.

“Bass Persuades” doesn’t debut at No. 1 on any tally, but it comes close on several simultaneously. The track launches at No. 2 on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs ranking and No. 3 on the Dance Streaming Songs tally, and it’s a top 40 success on several other rosters as well.
