Miley Cyrus is doing everything she can to turn her new album Bass Persuades into a winner on the Billboard charts next week. The current tracking period closes at the end of Thursday (September 24), and only a few days later, Bass Persuades will debut on rosters all around the world, including in America.
The singer-songwriter is using a tried-and-true tactic of releasing multiple versions of the same collection that are slightly different in an effort to encourage superfans to purchase more than one copy. At the moment, every take on the title is a top 10 bestseller on iTunes in America, and the plan seems to be working.
Miley Cyrus Quickly Followed Something Beautiful
Cyrus surprised the world when she announced Bass Persuades only shortly before the set became available. Lead single and title track “Bass Persuades” dropped on September 3, while the full-length followed on September 18.
Bass Persuades was a quick follow-up to Cyrus’s 2025 album Something Beautiful. That set, her ninth on her own, dropped May 30, 2025, but underperformed both critically and commercially.
Four Versions of Bass Persuades Are iTunes Top 10s
At the time of writing, four versions of Bass Persuades appear inside the top 10 on the iTunes Top Albums chart, which ranks the bestselling releases of any genre that fans are purchasing on the platform.
Bass Persuades (The Miley Edition) performs best, landing at No. 4. That slightly-altered version adds an eleventh tune, “Smile,” to the standard 10-song collection. The Acapella Edition is down at No. 6. The original Bass Persuades lands at No. 8, while the Instrumental Edition barely breaks into the region, settling at No. 9.
“Bass Persuades” Got Off to a Modest Chart Start
“Bass Persuades” the single debuted on Billboard charts last week, and its starting positions suggested that the album may be headed for a somewhat lackluster performance, like its predecessor.
The tune peaked at No. 35 on the Billboard Hot 100 and did manage to launch inside the top 40 on several radio rosters. It almost scored Cyrus – who now goes solely by Miley – her first No. 1 on the Hot Dance/Pop Songs chart, but the cut missed the summit by one space and instead launched at No. 2.
Currently, “Bass Persuades” appears at No. 33 on the iTunes Top Songs ranking. “Let’s Get Married,” which seems to be a fan favorite from the album, is down at No. 96. “Flowers,” which is perhaps Cyrus’s most famous tune, also finds space and is a bestseller in America, settling at No. 156 on the 200-space iTunes roster.
Bass Persuades Is Likely Headed for the Billboard 200 Top 10
Bass Persuades is likely headed for a top 10 start on the Billboard 200, but Cyrus was likely hoping to see the collection compete for the top spot. Something Beautiful peaked at No. 4, while Endless Summer Vacation, which features “Flowers,” topped out at No. 3 more than three years ago.
