There’s been little room for MarShawn Lloyd and the Green Bay Packers running backs this season.

The Green Bay Packers are on pace to set a number of records these days.
None of them are good.
The Packers have been on track to set an NFL record for most penalties and penalty yardage all season.
Now, Green Bay is on pace to have the worst rushing attack of the Super Bowl era.
The 2000 San Diego Chargers hold the NFL record for the fewest team rushing yards in a 16-game season during the Super Bowl era. Those Chargers averaged just 66.4 yards per game.
Through three games, the Packers are averaging 48.7 rushing yards per contest. Green Bay’s 17 rushing yards during its 35-14 loss to Atlanta Thursday were its fewest since totaling 12 yards against Tampa Bay in Dec., 1999.
“I think we gotta continue to work with these guys and try to figure out what we do well, because right now I don’t know what we’re doing well offensively,” LaFleur said. “We can all see the benefit of having a strong rushing attack, how you can get into normal rhythm on offense and that’ll open up a lot of things in the passing game.
In Green Bay’s loss to the Falcons, it ran the ball just nine times and threw it 53 — meaning a whopping 85.8% of their plays were passes.
Running back MarShawn Llloyd was asked if that was a clear sign that the coaching staff has no faith in the run game.
“I mean, it’s definitely something you don’t like to see,” Lloyd said. “But you know, you got to deal with it. I mean, it’s part of the game. I mean, you got to take whatever opportunity you get, you got to try to make the best of it.”
The Packers are averaging just 3.0 yards per carry, and Lloyd is their leading rusher with 68 yards through three games. Against the Falcons, the Packers ran the ball just five times for 12 yards (2.4) in the first half before finishing with nine carries for 17 yards (1.9).
“I feel like it’s a momentum thing,” running back Kaleb Johnson said. “When we get going, it’s hard for people to stop us. At first, we couldn’t really get going. That spark had to be there, but there wasn’t a spark at first. I feel like that’s the big thing. When we get that spark and we keep going, it’s dangerous.”
The last thing this Green Bay’s rushing attack has been is dangerous.
The offensive line is in shambles and hasn’t cleared much room, while the running backs have done little when given any type of crease.
“We’ve got to be more complete of an offense,” wideout Christian Watson said. “We gotta find a way to get that dialed back in because the run game is a big part of our offense. I think it showed today when we weren’t running the ball as much in other situations and obviously not executing as well as we want to.”
And if things don’t change soon, these Packers are going to set a record they want no part of.
