A little more than a decade ago, Troye Sivan released his debut full-length album, Blue Neighbourhood. The project quickly solidified the rising talent as not just a viral sensation, but a hitmaker and one of the most exciting new names in pop music.

To honor the introductory full-length’s tenth anniversary – which was actually in early December of last year – Sivan rereleased Blue Neighbourhood as an anniversary edition. The set came with two new cuts that diehard supporters will already know well, but which weren’t released commercially until this retrospective look.

Fans of the Australian Grammy-nominated artist rushed to pick up a copy of the updated Blue Neighbourhood. Sales exploded, and the album returns to multiple rankings, even managing to climb to a never-before-seen peak on one tally in America.

Troye Sivan’s Blue Neighbourhood Sales Surge

According to Luminate, Blue Neighbourhood sold 5,400 copies last week throughout the United States. That sum includes all forms of purchases, be they digital or physical. The period prior, before the tenth anniversary edition of Blue Neighbourhood became available, the set sold only a little more than 20 CDs, vinyl records, cassettes, and digital downloads. From one frame to the next, purchases of Blue Neighbourhood grew by a dramatic 23,400%.

Blue Neighbourhood Reenters the Vinyl Albums Chart

Blue Neighbourhood reenters the Vinyl Albums chart, Billboard’s ranking of the bestselling titles on that one format. The project lands on the list for only the second time, as it debuted back in February of 2016. At the moment, Blue Neighbourhood appears at No. 5, which marks a new all-time high for the singer-songwriter’s first studio album.

Troye Sivan’s Vinyl Albums Chart History

Throughout his career, Sivan has sent four projects to the Vinyl Albums chart. Somewhat frustratingly, two sets, Bloom and Something to Give Each Other, missed out on running the show by just one space, as the pair stalled at No. 2. Blue Neighbourhood stands as Sivan’s third-highest-peaking release, beating his In a Dream EP. That short effort only ever spent one moment at No. 9.

Troye Sivan’s Blue Neighbourhood Returns to the Sales Chart

That massive uptick in purchases also brings Blue Neighbourhood back to the Top Album Sales chart. Unlike the Vinyl Albums roster, the Top Album Sales tally does not focus on just one format, but does look only at actual purchases. Sivan’s debut release breaks back in at No. 13.

In the 18 weeks Blue Neighbourhood has spent as a top seller in the United States, it has risen to No. 6, so the project doesn’t come close to establishing a never-before-seen peak as it returns.

Troye Sivan Joins Queen, Pink Floyd, Chappell Roan and Lauryn Hill

On both the Vinyl Albums and Top Album Sales charts, Sivan scores the most impressive comeback this week. On the vinyl-only tally, he beats returning favorites from names like A$AP Rocky, Jeff Buckley, J. Cole, Queen, Pink Floyd, and Bob Marley, many of whom often live on the format-focused tally.

Over on the Top Album Sales chart, several of those artists also return, and they are joined by K-pop favorites Cortis, Chappell Roan, Arctic Monkeys, and Lauryn Hill. Only a few projects are new to either roster this week. Charli XCX’s Wuthering Heights soundtrack is the most impressive debut, while fellow superstars Brent Faiyaz, Jill Scott, and Beck debut sets on both tallies.
