Shakira Denied A New No. 1 By Only One Space Yet Again

Shakira and Burna Boy Sit at No. 2 on Four Charts

“Dai Dai” currently sits at No. 2 on all four U.K. charts where it appears, though it takes a different route to that position on each roster. The collaboration holds steady in second place on the Official Singles chart, the most important songs ranking in the nation. It slips one rung to No. 2 on the Official Streaming tally while returning to that same high point on both the Official Singles Sales and Official Singles Downloads charts.

“Dai Dai” Is Blocked by a Historic No. 1

On the Official Singles chart, which ranks the most-consumed songs of any style in the U.K. using both streaming activity and sales, “Dai Dai” is comfortable once again at No. 2. The collaboration remains stuck behind “Rein Me In,” the historic team-up between Sam Fender and Olivia Dean.

That tune was originally a solo cut by Fender, but after Grammy winner Dean hopped on board a remix, it rose to No. 1. “Rein Me In” has since shattered the all-time record for the most weeks spent atop the Official Singles ranking and recently became the first composition to manage 20 frames in charge.

Shakira and Burna Boy’s Smash Returns to Its Sales Peak

“Dai Dai” returns to No. 2 on both the Official Singles Downloads and Official Singles Sales charts after sitting at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively, last week. The collaboration has already reached second place on both purchase-focused rosters, but has never climbed any higher.

This frame, Shakira and Burna come in behind “Move Into the Sun,” an electronic dance cut fronted by producer Hugh and featuring Imael Angel and Ultra Naté. Last week’s winner, Madonna and Kylie Minogue’s “Love Sensation,” steps back only a few rungs after dominating just days ago.

Shakira and Burna Boy Have Both Hit No. 1 in the U.K. Before

Both Shakira and Burna have conquered the Official Singles chart in the past. Burna led the charge for three frames back in 2019 alongside Ed Sheeran and Stormzy with “Own It.” Shakira has ruled with a pair of collaborations, first hitting No. 1 with Wyclef Jean on “Hips Don’t Lie” and then returning to the summit a year later with Beyoncé on “Beautiful Liar,” which spent nearly a month running the show.

“Dai Dai” is now tied with Shakira’s first U.K. hit, “Whenever, Wherever,” which also peaked at No. 2 more than 20 years ago.

Burna Boy Is Still Chasing Two Firsts

Both Shakira and Burna are looking for their first champion on the Official Singles Sales chart. “Dai Dai” marks Shakira’s first top 10 on that ranking, while Burna previously reached the region with “Own It,” which stalled at No. 3.

Burna is also hoping to earn his first leader on the Official Singles Downloads tally, where “Dai Dai” already represents his career best showing. Shakira has ruled that list before with both “Hips Don’t Lie” and “Beautiful Liar,” as apparently something about lying works perfectly for Shakira, and audiences never fail to eat it up.

Shakira and Burna Boy Already Reached No. 1 on the Streaming List

“Dai Dai” has already scored both Shakira and Burna their first No. 1 on the Official Streaming chart. The smash marks Shakira’s first top 10 on the streaming-focused roster, while Burna has racked up four appearances within the highest tier. He previously missed out on ruling by one rung with “Own It,” while his own “Last Last” and “Location,” a collaboration with rapper Dave, also found their way into the competitive region.
