“South Park” creators Trey Parker and Matt Stone posted to social media Tuesday they are changing the name of their satirical sitcom to “South America,” taking a jab at Apple and Google after they complied with executive orders from President Donald Trump to change the names of geographic landmarks to U.S.-centric names.

Parker and Stone said in a statement the name change is “Inspired by the bravery and patriotism of Apple and Google,” announcing it ahead of their show’s 29th season premiere this month.
Apple and Google recently changed the name of “Lake Ontario” on their respective map platforms to “Lake America” following an executive order from Trump, after also following through on his “Gulf of America” name change earlier in his second term.
Parker and Stone added in Tuesday’s statement, “We especially want to thank our parent company Paramount — a Skydance Capitulation,” taunting the controversial merger of Paramount and Skydance last year.
The latest season of “South Park” will premiere on Sept. 16 and appears likely to extend the long-running feud between the show’s creators and the Trump administration.
