A key Philadelphia Phillies infielder appears to be finishing the 2026 season in a much better place than where he started it.
After a dreadful opening to the season, Alec Bohm has found his swing at an important point of the schedule. His turnaround has also come as Philadelphia continues its push atop the National League East, giving Bohm an opportunity to put a difficult year behind him and hit free agency with some momentum toward a new contract.
“After a dreadful start, Bohm has hit his way to a .327/.391/.439 slash line with an .830 OPS in August and become one of the better players in a surging Phillies lineup,” Charlotte Varnes noted for The Athletic. “Bohm knows he might be nearing the end of his time in Philadelphia, so he said he has determined not to be ‘miserable’ — a change in mindset from how he has handled previous struggles.”
That renewed focus comes as Bohm has also reached a final resolution in a deeply personal legal dispute involving his parents. The lawsuit, which centered on the handling of money earned during his professional baseball career, has now been settled, with the terms remaining confidential.

The legal battle began when Bohm accused his parents, Daniel and Lisa Bohm, of improperly managing his finances through several limited liability companies. His parents denied wrongdoing throughout the case and disputed his characterization of how the financial arrangements were established and handled.
“According to the lawsuit, Daniel and Lisa told their son they needed a 10 percent ownership interest on paper in two LLCs established to hold his earnings in order to manage them on his behalf, while Bohm would remain the true owner of the assets,” Bryan Fonseca reported for the New York Post. “Bohm alleged his parents subsequently transferred millions from his personal accounts into accounts controlled through the LLCs and ‘converted to their own use’ an unspecified amount. The 30-year-old also accused them of using money from the Alec Bohm Foundation to cover personal expenses, according to the lawsuit, allegations his parents denied.”
The dispute ultimately ended earlier this month with a confidential settlement and very little public comment from either side. For Bohm’s part, he offered only a brief message on the conclusion through his legal team.
“We would hope everybody respects the parties’ privacy,” Bohm’s representatives at Zarwin Baum said in its only statement following the resolution, per Varnes.

For Bohm, the resolution arrives at a potentially significant point in his career. He is coming off a difficult start but has played considerably better recently, while the Phillies remain in the middle of a postseason race.
With the legal dispute now settled, Bohm can concentrate on finishing the season strongly and helping the Phillies navigate the final weeks of the playoff race.
Whether he remains in Philadelphia beyond 2026 remains an open question.
