The ‘Reacher’ Season 5 Release Date Is Closer Than You Think

We are nearing the end of Reacher season 4, a rather tumultuous roller coaster of high critic scores and lower audience scores. I can’t say I’ve been terribly blown away by it, but a large man beating up corrupt CIA officials and mercenaries never really gets old, admittedly. Now, however, we have news about season 5, which was greenlit ages ago as Amazon is clearly going to renew the show forever, at least as long as star Alan Ritchson stays around.

Given news about the production of Reacher season 5, we have a good estimate of its release date, based on past data:

• Production on Reacher season 4 began in June 2025 and ran until November 2025. Season 4 began airing on August 12, 2026. That’s a 16-month gap from production start to the show airing.
• We know that production on Reacher season 5 started on July 21, 2026. It’s meant to finish up in December, and if the 16-month gap holds, that would be a release date sometime in September 2027.
• That means Reacher season 5 would be only 13 months after season 4, given that production started before season 4 even aired, thanks to its early renewal.

If those figures are indeed the production and post-production timelines, a 13-month gap between Reacher seasons would be its shortest. There were 22 months between seasons 1 and 2, 14 months between seasons 2 and 3, and 18 months between seasons 3 and 4. Getting the show down to airing almost yearly is the dream in the streaming era.

Reacher has been the #1 show on Amazon since season 4 began airing, and it tends to stay in the top 10 list for months at a time. Sometimes even the majority of the year, in past instances. There’s no real sign of that slowing down significantly.

We already know which book is being adapted for Reacher season 5: Make Me, the 20th book in the series. Reacher has jumped all around the source material, going way out of order, but that’s because the books were written to let readers hop in wherever they want, with limited prior knowledge of his adventures. Reacher wanders around the country, finding trouble. He’s ex-Military police. He is large and kills a lot of people. That’s really all you need to know.

Reacher Season 5 will add cast members Jay Baruchel, Kevin Durand, Amanda Ip and Ciara Bravo. From the looks of it, it seems possible, if not likely, that Ip will be the mandatory love interest for Reacher in season 5, as he is 4 for 4 across all the seasons so far. We’ll find out more next fall.
