Ella Langley now owns what many people would call the most impressive record in the history of the Billboard charts. “Choosin’ Texas” has spent 23 weeks at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100 as of this frame, officially passing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” to become the longest-running leader in the ranking’s more than half-century-long history.
That one achievement would be enough to make this week historic, but what is happening elsewhere on the Billboard Hot 100 may say even more about Langley’s future and her current status as a superstar. As “Choosin’ Texas” rules again, another one of the singer-songwriter’s most successful singles is also riding high – which separates the performance of her breakout smash from those that it has only recently passed in the history books.
Ella Langley Passes Mariah Carey
“Choosin’ Texas” collects its twenty-third frame atop the Billboard Hot 100 as it refuses to budge from the top spot. With one more stint in charge, the country tune moves ahead of “All I Want for Christmas Is You,” which reached 22 weeks at No. 1 earlier this year.
Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” follow as the third-longest-ruling No. 1s on the Billboard Hot 100 with 19 weeks in charge apiece. This newly-formed record could change hands again, perhaps only in a few months. “All I Want for Christmas Is You” will almost certainly return to the charts during future holiday seasons and may add to its total time spent at No. 1.
Ella Langley Has Another Top 10 Hit Right Now
Amazingly, while the focus for millions of listeners and Langley herself may be on “Choosin’ Texas,” that is not the country artist’s only big hit in America at the moment. In fact, it’s not even her only tune present inside the top 10 on the Billboard Hot 100.
“Be Her” currently sits at No. 10 on the busy tally. The track was selected as the follow-up to “Choosin’ Texas,” but promotion of a second single from the album Dandelion did not refocus attention or take away from the songwriter’s breakout smash. In what may be the biggest week of her career, Langley bookends the top 10 on the most competitive songs ranking in the nation.
Ella Langley Stands Apart From Her Historic Competition
The three songs that sit immediately behind “Choosin’ Texas” on the all-time list did not enjoy that same kind of company when they reached their historic showings. Langley’s blockbuster may be unprecedented, but increasingly, it also looks like only one piece of a massively successful era for the artist.
When “Old Town Road” completed its 19-week reign in 2019, Lil Nas X had no other song inside the Billboard Hot 100’s top 10, and Cyrus certainly didn’t either. “Panini,” which would eventually become another major hit from the then-rising musician, was down at No. 31.
The same was true for Shaboozey when “A Bar Song (Tipsy)” tied that record in late 2024. His follow-up “Good News” debuted that week, but at No. 71.
Carey is obviously a very different story, as she had already amassed decades of smashes before her holiday favorite became the longest-running No. 1 – but that doesn’t keep her from joining Lil Nas X, Cyrus or Shaboozey in this regard. During the weeks when “All I Want for Christmas Is You” extended its total from 19 through 22 frames on top, she did not simultaneously claim another top 10 hit on the chart.
Ella Langley Almost Replaced Herself at No. 1
“Be Her” currently sits at No. 10, but it has already climbed much higher. Earlier this year, the song reached No. 2 while “Choosin’ Texas” ruled, and Langley blocked herself from trading one champion for another. At the time, Langley became the first woman primarily associated with country music to fill the highest pair of spaces simultaneously in Billboard Hot 100 history.
“Be Her” Isn’t Ella Langley’s Only Follow-Up Smash
Langley’s success in 2026 extends beyond those two smashes. “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” her collaboration with Morgan Wallen which arrived during the ongoing reign of “Choosin’ Texas,” debuted at No. 7 and later rose to No. 4. At points this summer, Langley claimed three spaces inside the Billboard Hot 100’s top 10 at once. During one July frame, “Choosin’ Texas” ruled, “Be Her” sat at No. 3 and “I Can’t Love You Anymore” held at No. 6.
