Noah Kahan became a global superstar several years ago with his third full-length, Stick Season, and expectations were high when he announced its long-awaited follow-up. Thankfully, The Great Divide delivered, bringing the singer-songwriter to new heights on rankings all around the world and producing some of his most popular tunes. This week, he nearly conquers multiple rosters in the United Kingdom with “Orbiter,” an immediate fan favorite from his latest set that has now become a bestseller.
“Orbiter” Nearly Reaches No. 1 on Multiple Charts
“Orbiter” launches at No. 2 on both the Official Physical Singles and Official Vinyl Singles charts in the U.K. this time around. The Great Divide cut misses ruling each format-specific ranking by just one space as pop singer Freya Skye debuts her tune “Bad Taste” at No. 1 on both lists.
Kahan collects his fourth hit on each roster with “Orbiter.” The record is one of three tracks by the singer-songwriter to peak in the runner-up rung on the Official Physical Singles tally. Both “Dial Drunk” and “Maine” also stalled at No. 2 on the Official Vinyl Singles ranking.
Kahan has collected just one No. 1 on the Official Physical Singles chart, with “Stick Season.” On the vinyl-only roster, both “Stick Season” and “Dial Drunk” have led the charge for a time.
“Orbiter” Becomes a Top Three Sales Hit
“Orbiter” debuts on one other U.K.-based ranking this week. The tune enters the Official Singles Sales chart at No. 3. The tally looks at purchases across all formats, rather than focusing solely on physical copies or vinyl.
The tune becomes Kahan’s third top 10 on the sales list and, coincidentally, kicks off its time in third place. He has only dominated once, as “Stick Season” spent one of its 69 turns on the roster at No. 1.
Kahan later returned to the highest tier with “Homesick” – specifically the collaborative version featuring U.K. favorite Sam Fender – which peaked at No. 9. As “Orbiter” arrives, the singer-songwriter reaches a milestone 10 placements on the Official Singles Sales chart.
“Orbiter” Reaches New Peaks on Several Charts
“Orbiter” rockets to new high points on two of the most competitive songs tallies in the U.K. at the same time that it debuts on several sales lists. In a bit of coincidence, the smash rises to No. 18 in its eighteenth frame on the Official Singles chart. The track also surges on the Official Streaming chart, improving its standing to No. 48.
“Willing and Able” Surges in the U.K.
“Willing and Able” follows “Orbiter” upward on those same two lists and establishes new highs on them as well. The Great Divide track steps from No. 35 to No. 21 on the Official Singles chart, narrowly missing out on finding its way into the top 20. The uptick is even more dramatic on the Official Streaming tally, where “Willing and Able” rockets from No. 100 to No. 57 in only its third turn on the roster.
“Stick Season” Nearly Bookends One U.K. Ranking
“Stick Season” is Kahan’s third and only other song charting in the U.K. this week. The longtime favorite ascends on both the Official Singles list and Official Streaming ranking, climbing to Nos. 69 and 46, respectively.
The career-defining tune moves in the opposite direction on the Official Physical Singles tally, falling all the way to No. 100 – absolute last place. Kahan nearly bookends the 100-space roster with “Orbiter” at No. 2 and “Stick Season” at the bottom. Had “Bad Taste” arrived at another time, or had “Orbiter” sold slightly better, he could have occupied the Nos. 1 and 100 spaces simultaneously.
