FC Barcelona head coach Hansi Flick is preparing to make a number of changes to the dynamics of the first team following the international break.

Flick’s men couldn’t have gotten off to a better start in 2026/2027, and currently nurse a 100% record in all competitions which has them leading La Liga by five points.

It’s not just the winning that is impressive, however, but also the way it’s being done. Scoring 36 goals in total in Spain and Europe, Barca have lifted a “manita” hand on numerous occasions for putting five goals or more past their opponents.

This is in part down to the sheer intensity the Blaugrana plays at and their mindblowing pace in transitions led by the likes of Raphinha, Anthony Gordon and Karim Adeyemi. Meanwhile, Ballon d’Or candidate Lamine Yamal is returning to his genius best.

Keeping their foot on the gas in that manner for the long haul will be tricky, however, and Flick has to make adjustments so that his outfit doesn’t run out of steam when it matters in the spring.

Flick will make changes at FC Barcelona when club football takes over the calendar again

Learning his lesson from past campaigns, where he perhaps overplayed the likes of Raphinha, Pedri and Lamine, Flick knows that managing wear and tear will be essential if Barca are to make a deep run in the Champions League.

Simultaneously, retaining the La Liga crown for a third occasion and the first time since Pep Guardiola era is a key goal as well.

Considering players such as Gabriel Jesus and Brian Farinas haven’t started yet, Getafe on October 10 could be a good shout for this and resting certain individuals.

Jesus could prove especially key amid Raphinha returning early from Brazil national team duty, though thankfully tests on Friday proved he hasn’t suffered a reoccurrence of the right thigh knock which sidelined him and derailed Barca’s European hopes in March.

Other players that have previously been important, like Alejandro Balde and Gavi could also earn minutes in a month where FC Barcelona have huge games such as Paris Saint-Germain and Real Madrid coming up. How Flick calls rotations could prove crucial in the short and long-term.
