American Girl on Thursday introduced Daisy Davenport as its 2027 Girl of the Year doll, as Mattel continues to celebrate the iconic brand’s 40th anniversary.
The reveal of the 18-inch-tall American Girl Daisy Davenport doll follows the announcement in May that Daisy would be the brand’s 2027 Girl of the Year. To kick off the festivities, American Girl released the doll’s companion book, Daisy Davenport Saves the Day.
In the book, authored by Megan Wagner Lloyd, Daisy’s plans for a fun summer with her best friend, Callie, at Camp Gowonagin abruptly change when Callie has to cancel her trip because of an injury. As such, Daisy attends the camp alone and after feeling homesick, learns to adjust to camp life, makes new friends and overcomes her fear of the dark.
In a nod to the American Girl’s Wisconsin roots, Daisy comes from Madison, Wis., marking the first time a character from the brand hails from the Dairy State. American Girl was established by Pleasant Rowland for her Pleasant Company in Madison in 1986. Mattel purchased the brand in 1998.

Since 2001, a new Girl of the Year doll has been released to represent “a contemporary character whose experiences, passions, and challenges reflect the world around them – inspiring confidence, individuality, and imagination for a new generation,” per Mattel.
As for the 2027 Girl of the Year, Pamela Velarde, the vice president and head of the American Girl brand, said in a statement. “Daisy’s story reflects the enduring spirit of American Girl while bringing a fresh perspective that feels relevant to girls today.
“We’re thrilled to introduce a character who is confident and capable while navigating the uncertainty that comes with trying new things, building friendships, and growing into who you are,” Velarde added. “Her story is a wonderful way to celebrate where American Girl has been and the next chapter.”
The release of the Daisy Davenport doll in the line follows Raquel Reyes, who is American Girl’s 2026 Girl of the Year.
According to Mattel, the Daisy Davenport Girl of the Year doll has green eyes and long auburn-red hair with bangs. Daisy arrives ready for summer camp wearing a sporty purple T-shirt, a dark blue pleated denim skort, purple tennis shoes and striped socks.
The Daisy Davenport 2027 Girl of the Year doll and product collection go on sale Thursday on the American Girl retail site American Girl stores nationwide.
In conjunction with the release of the Daisy Davenport Girl of the Year American Girl doll, the company is producting programming on the Mattel Imagine YouTube channel, including a Daisy-themed animated music video and digital shorts, as well as an all-new stop-motion animated series that follows Daisy at camp.

What Items Are Featured In American Girl Daisy Davenport Product Collection?
According to Mattel, the Daisy Davenport American Girl Girl of the Year product collection includes fashions & accessories that will help bring Camp Gowonagin to life.
Camp Adventures: The heart of the product collection is the Daisy Davenport Camp Cabin, which is inspired by Daisy’s Badger Cabin #44. The cabin sleeps two dolls and includes bunk beds, pillows, blankets and sleeping bags, as well as an outdoor vanity with a sink and a working mirror, and a Camp Gowonagin flag.
Soccer & Team Spirit: Because Daisy is a avid soccer player, this Girl of the Year product offers a soccer set, which features a uniform and net, as well as additional pieces inspired by Camp Gowonagin’s soccer team.
Campfire & Cozy Nights: Designed for nights around the campfire, this set, where Daisy can hang out with her friends, includes a PJ set, a s’mores kit and a guitar to recreate the traditional summer camp experience. Additional accessories invite the imagination of late-night conversations, music, sweet treats, and memories they can make together.

Mattel noted the Daisy Davenport doll, accessories and story are “rooted in authenticity and relevance.” As such, “American Girl collaborated with experts and advisors throughout the development process,” the company said.
Among those American Girl collaborated with on Daisy’s doll, accessories and story were Laurie McMurray, a former co-director of the Adventure Program at Camp Daggett and Jackie Glascock, PhD, Chief Scientific Officer at Cure SMA.
In addition, Mattel said American Girl enlisted the expertise of Sarah Bellish of Cure SMA’s Policy and Advocacy team, “who brought her personal experience attending summer camp for children with disabilities to advise on Daisy’s camp friend with spinal muscular atrophy.”
Over the summer, American Girl previewed Daisy’s story with Girl Scouts at the Girl Scouts Unite event in Washington, D.C., where, according to Mattel, “they heard how Daisy discovered more about herself, formed new friendships, and tried new things at camp.”
