Terence Crawford retired, but no one seems to believe him. At every turn, fighters and now even Zuffa Boxing promoter Dana White are seemingly trying to lure Crawford out of retirement for a mega fight. Crawford didn’t waste a lot of time responding to White’s suggestion. Let’s talk boxing.

White believes there is a number that could Crawford to consider fighting again. Even Crawford seemed to tease the possibility of fighting Jaron Ennis.
Crawford answered White directly. Speaking to Seconds Out, he said he heard the comments and still does not know what fight White means.
He also walked back the Ennis post, calling it a valid point rather than a serious callout. Crawford retired in December at 42-0 with 31 knockouts, three months after outpointing Canelo Alvarez at Allegiant Stadium to become undisputed at super middleweight. White has named no opponent, date, venue or weight.

Here’s the thing: Crawford has been more visible and accessible since his retirement than he ever was as a fighter. He’s found his public voice and seems comfortable sharing his knowledge and expertise. That visibility and accessibility has kept him in the forefront of the minds of fighters chasing a legacy fight and a massive payday.
Ryan Garcia and Jaron “Boots” Ennis have both shot their shots at Crawford. Quite honestly, a fight with Boots makes no sense for Crawford. As good as Boots is, he doesn’t have the kind of star power that would produce the sort of payday necessary to lure Crawford back into the ring against a hungry young bull.
The same could be said for Garcia, although the payday against KingRy would be considerably higher. Garcia is a legit superstar and pay-per-view draw.
It’s the rarest commodity in sports, but even that probably wouldn’t be enough. The most realistic option is a rematch with Canelo, but we’ll see if White and Turki Alalshikh are able to convince him to risk his unbeaten legacy against the Mexican icon in a second fight-of-the-era attraction.
