Ella Langley resets the biggest piece of Billboard history of all time this week. “Choosin’ Texas” collects its twenty-third frame at No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100, passing Mariah Carey’s “All I Want for Christmas Is You” to become the longest-running leader in the ranking’s history.
That achievement caps an extraordinary run that has lasted throughout most of 2026. Long before “Choosin’ Texas” reached week 23 on top, Langley was already rewriting the record books on several Billboard rankings, sometimes with help from the other hits surrounding her blockbuster.
Ella Langley Scored One Of The Longest Streaming No. 1s Ever
Earlier this month, “Choosin’ Texas” logged its twenty-first week atop the Streaming Songs chart. As it reached that figure – a number it has already passed – the country cut moved past Lil Nas X and Billy Ray Cyrus’ “Old Town Road,” and it now stands alone as the second-longest-running leader. Only “All I Want for Christmas Is You” has commanded the tally for a longer stretch, as it’s up to a total of 26 frames on top.
Ella Langley Matched “Old Town Road” On the Digital Song Sales Chart
As “Choosin’ Texas” leads the Billboard Hot 100 again, it also holds at No. 1 on both the Streaming Songs and Digital Song Sales charts. As of this period, Langley’s career-making smash has been counted as the bestselling cut in the nation 18 times. “Choosin’ Texas” is now tied with a pair of BTS smashes, “Dynamite” and “Butter,” as the longest-running No. 1 on the sales tally.
Ella Langley Owned The Hot 100’s Top Two Spots at Once
In May, “Choosin’ Texas” topped the Billboard Hot 100 while “Be Her” climbed to No. 2, which has since stood as the song’s peak. That ascent made Langley the first woman primarily associated with country music to occupy the ranking’s loftiest two positions simultaneously. Months later, “Be Her” is still a top 10 win – in fact, it helps Langley bookend the roster this frame as it dips one spot to No. 10.
Ella Langley Kept Climbing the Hot Country Songs Chart
Only a short time ago, “Choosin’ Texas” celebrated 40 weeks at the most-consumed country track in the nation. It is one of only three singles to reach that milestone, following Bebe Rexha and Florida Georgia Line’s “Meant to Be” and Shaboozey’s “A Bar Song (Tipsy),” which led Billboard’s Hot Country Songs chart for 50 and 45 frames, respectively. It may only be a matter of time before Langley catches up, and then passes, one – if not both – of those tunes.
Ella Langley Controlled the Streaming Songs List With Two Hits
Shortly after her sophomore album Dandelion arrived, Langley became the first country musician to simultaneously claim the Nos. 1 and 2 spots on the Streaming Songs list. “Choosin’ Texas” remained in charge while “Be Her” followed directly behind. The pair held the arrangement for multiple weeks, and Langley stopped herself from scoring a new leader.
Ella Langley Once Placed 17 Songs on the Hot Country Songs Chart
The release of the highly-anticipated Dandelion sent 17 tracks by Langley onto the Hot Country Songs chart in one week. That figure surpassed Beyoncé’s best single-week showing of 16 hits on the tally, which looks at the most popular tunes in the country genre in America. Five of those hits landed inside the top 10, including “Choosin’ Texas” at No. 1.
Ella Langley Started Making History Almost Immediately
By March, “Choosin’ Texas” had already collected three nonconsecutive weeks at No. 1 on both the Billboard Hot 100 and the Hot Country Songs chart. Langley became only the second woman to manage that combination, after Taylor Swift did so back when she was primarily known for recording country music.
