What’s Happened In ‘Invincible’ Season 4 So Far?

Mark and his crew have faced down countless threats across Season 4. Right out the gates, Mark and Atom Eve (Gillian Jacobs) encountered Universa (Danai Gurira) and Dinosaurus (Matthew Rhys). Oliver (Christian Convery) faces both his moody hormonal nature and some major threats, while Eve discovers that she’s pregnant and that her pregnancy is interfering with her powers. When Mark is summoned by Omni-Man and Allen the Alien (Seth Rogen) to go fight the Viltrumites, Eve decides not to tell him about the baby.

Mark, Nolan, Oliver and Allen are joined by Telia (Tatiana Maslany) and Tech Jacket (Zoey Deutch) as they search for weapons from Nolan’s books to aid them in their fight. When Viltrumites led by Conquest (Jeffrey Dean Morgan) appear, a huge fight breaks out and Mark is nearly killed by Conquest, killing the insane Viltrumite in the process. Nolan and Oliver are stranded and care for Mark as he heals slowly over the course of weeks. The two end up bonding. Allen and Tech Jacket escape by hiding on the Viltrumite ship’s exterior.

Eventually, the Graysons return to the Coalition just in time to help fend off a major Viltrumite attack. Thaedus (Peter Cullen) wants to take the fight back to the Viltrumites and convinces his allies to join him, along with Battle Beast (Michael Dorn) and Space Racer (Winston Duke) and his overpowered Infinity Ray.

A massive fight ensues, with the Coalition forces getting an early upper hand before Thragg unveils the full scope of his power, very nearly killing Oliver and fending off every other attacker with ease. Nolan instructs Space Racer to fire on the planet Viltrum itself and then he, Thaedus and Mark follow the blast into the planet’s core in order to explode Viltrum from the inside. They emerge out the other side where Thragg decapitates Thaedus, nearly kills Omni-Man and spares Mark because he is grieving over how few Viltrumites remain and can’t bring himself to kill another.

Thragg and his cohort escape and Mark wakes up to find both his brother and father alive. Thragg, he believes, has gone to Earth.

What To Expect In The ‘Invincible’ Season 4 Finale

Obviously, we can’t know exactly what to expect since we haven’t seen Invincible’s Season 4 finale, but it seems fair to guess that Mark, Nolan and the Coalition team will make it back to Earth for a major showdown with Thragg, who at this point is nigh unstoppable.

How Mark and his friends will ever stand up to someone as powerful as Thragg remains a mystery. So far, the Grand Regent has pretty much zero weaknesses, no Kryptonite of any kind that I’m aware of, and even the most powerful heroes in the galaxy, from Allen to Battle Beast to Nolan and Mark are like flies buzzing around waiting to be swatted. Whatever happens, it’s going to be a massive finale that almost certainly won’t resolve everything neatly. We’ll need some stuff to keep us hungry for Season 5. I suspect Atom Eve will reveal the pregnancy to Mark by the end of the episode.

In the Season 4 finale teaser trailer, we see Omni-Man / Nolan trying to ease Mark’s worries. There’s nothing they can do about Thragg heading to Earth, he tells his son. They’re still days away.

What We Know About ‘Invincible’ Season 5

Amazon Prime Video announced that it had greenlit Invincible Season 5 back on July 17, 2025. It is slated for release sometime between February and April of 2027, making it just about a year out. That’s a lot faster than we’ve seen between prior seasons, which is great news. Unless the show is cancelled, this will not be the last season. Kirkman has stated he’d like to see 10 seasons of the show, and while it’s impossible to say if it can keep running that long, I would expect at least a few more to wrap up the graphic novels.
