The Tyson Fury vs. Anthony Joshua card is one of two humongous fight cards still left on the 2026 boxing calendar. Canelo Alvarez’s return against Christian Mbilli later this month is the other. Because of the platform Fury-Joshua will command in Cardiff and being streamed on Netflix, the undercard spots are choice positions.
Tens of millions of boxing fans — casual and hardcore — will take in the night of pugilism and it appears a massive welterweight showdown could be the co-main event. The undefeated Richardson Hitchins and Keyshawn Davis are apparently on target for the Cardiff card. While Hitchins doesn’t seem thrilled with fighting Davis in Cardiff, this will likely wind up being the most high-profile fight of his or Davis’ career to date. Let’s talk boxing.

This is a battle of two fighters who spent a brief time at 140 pounds before landing as welterweights. Both men will have ample time to prepare and the train to perform at 147 pounds. Hitchins was the IBF champion at 140 pounds, but he vacated the strap to move to 147. Davis has already won twice at 140 and seemingly proven he’s ready to take a stab at championship-caliber competition at welterweight. There’s a ton for both men to prove in this rare matchup that pits two undefeated young American fighters against each other in their primes.
Dana White gave the clearest signal yet. Asked about the matchup, the Zuffa Boxing CEO said, “that one is more than likely, yeah,” while shooting down a separate rumor that Shakur Stevenson would face Manny Pacquiao on the same card. Nothing is signed. The sticking point is money rather than matchmaking, because the bout was first built as a Madison Square Garden co-feature and Hitchins wants the Cardiff purse to match the New York one.
How Both Men Got To 147
| Fighter | Path | Last Fight |
|---|---|---|
| Keyshawn Davis | Lost the WBO lightweight belt on the scales, moved to 140, stopped Jamaine Ortiz in his 140 debut in January 2026 | Nahir Albright, unanimous decision, May 17, 2026 |
| Richardson Hitchins | Won the IBF 140 title, signed with Zuffa Boxing, relinquished the belt on April 20, 2026 and moved to 147 | Ricardo Salas, shutout decision, July 2026 |
