Last month, a federal appeals court ruled that the First Amendment protects someone’s right to possess AI-generated child sexual abuse material only in the privacy of their own home and if it does not depict a real minor. This ruling stems from a 2024 case where a Wisconsin man was charged for allegedly producing, possessing, and distributing AI-generated CSAM and transferring similar explicit AI images to a minor via Instagram. Only his possession charge was dismissed. Lauren Book, the founder and CEO of Lauren’s Kids, joins “Forbes Newsroom” to discuss.
