2026 has been a strange year for Katy Perry. Just when it looked like the public may have moved on from her top 40 pop style, one of her older singles suddenly went viral and became a global smash. The Grammy-nominated singer has spent much of the year pushing “The One That Got Away,” the sixth single from her blockbuster album Teenage Dream, and it became one of her most impressive smashes in years.

In an effort to capitalize on the incredible popularity attached to that decade-plus-old tune, Perry delivered her first greatest hits compilation, The Ones That Got the Plays, this spring. As her new single “Watch It Burn” launches on multiple tallies in the United Kingdom, The Ones That Got the Plays rises to new peaks on several lists, and even scores the hitmaker a special new top 10 win.

Katy Perry’s Compilation Hits the Top 10

The Ones That Got the Plays rises into the top 10 for the first time on the Official Albums chart. Eight weeks into its run on the ranking of the most-consumed albums and EPs in the U.K. – which uses both sales and streams in its methodology – The One That Got the Plays lifts from No. 12 to tenth place.

The One That Got the Plays Finally Reaches the Top 10

Perry has come tantalizingly close to breaking into the highest tier on the Official Albums chart with The One That Got the Plays on multiple occasions. The compilation, which features 22 of her biggest songs, arrived at No. 13 in mid-May. Since then, the project has climbed as high as No. 12, stalling in that position in half of all of the frames it has spent on the roster.

Katy Perry Scores Her Sixth Career Top 10

Thanks to The Ones That Got the Plays, Perry now counts half a dozen top 10 wins on the Official Albums chart. Two of those successes, Teenage Dream and its follow-up Prism, both spent one week at No. 1. Her three most recent full-lengths, Witness, Smile and 143, topped out at Nos. 6, 5 and 6, respectively.

Only one studio effort by Perry that has landed on the Official Albums chart has failed to crack the top 10, and it didn’t miss the region by much. One of the Boys, her breakout release, which landed on the tally back in October 2008, soared as high as No. 11 off of the strength of multiple singles like “I Kissed a Girl” and “Hot N Cold,” among others.

Katy Perry’s Album Climbs to a New Streaming Peak

The Ones That Got the Plays also establishes a new high on the only other ranking it can be found on in the U.K. at the moment. On the Official Albums Streaming chart, Perry’s compilation pushes from No. 9 to No. 6. That’s just one space above where it debuted in May.

The One That Got the Plays Nears Katy Perry’s Record

Perry nearly ties her top placement yet on the Official Albums Streaming chart, but misses out on doing so by just one space. Witness once danced as high as No. 5. In the coming weeks, it’s possible that The Ones That Got the Plays will match that position, or the compilation could turn around very soon.

“Watch It Burn” Debuts on Multiple Charts

Perry’s catalog enjoys a bump this week due to the release of her brand new single, “Watch It Burn.” That track – which may precede a new album, though for the moment the singer has not announced anything – misses the main ranking of the most popular songs in the U.K., but it does become a top 40 smash on two purchase-focused rankings.

“Watch It Burn” debuts at No. 25 on the Official Singles Downloads chart, and it breaks onto the Official Singles Sales tally at No. 34. Perry has now racked up 26 appearances on the most closely watched sales rundown, and 41 smashes on the roster that looks only at downloads.
