Country music continues its dominance in the United States at the outset of a new tracking week in the music industry. Today, Friday (September 18), is when most artists release new material, either singles or albums, as those titles will then have a full seven days in which to generate streams and sales and potentially reach the Billboard charts in a little more than a week.

The two bestselling new offerings this Friday come from country powerhouses, and their immediate success once again shows just how huge the genre has grown and how prevalent it is in 2026.

Morgan Wallen Debuts His New Single at No. 1 on iTunes

Morgan Wallen currently sits at No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart, which lists the bestselling individual tracks on that platform. iTunes is not the only site that feeds into where a tune appears on the Billboard rankings, but it remains one of the most popular and important download stores.

Wallen’s new single “Last Thing You Need” quickly shot to No. 1 once it became available. The cut is taken from the upcoming soundtrack Grand Theft Auto VI: The Album, which will accompany the game of the same name set to arrive this fall.

Morgan Wallen Claims Two Top 10 Bestsellers

Wallen claims three hits on the current iTunes Top Songs chart, and two of them are top 10 bestsellers. As “Last Thing You Need” opens at No. 1, Wallen’s “Been By Now,” released only a few weeks ago, is comfortable at No. 8.

Also present inside the top 40 is “I Can’t Love You Anymore,” his team-up with current country sensation Ella Langley. The collaboration falls more than a dozen spaces but holds inside the region, landing at No. 37 after being pushed downward by a surge of new arrivals.

Morgan Wallen Blocks Miranda Lambert From No. 1

Wallen’s latest smash blocks another country favorite from hitting No. 1. Miranda Lambert’s “Two Things Can Be True” settles for second place on the iTunes Top Songs ranking. The track will be featured on her upcoming tenth album, Crisco, which is expected to drop in early October.

Greta Van Fleet Launches Inside the Top Five

Another two tracks launch within the iTunes Top Songs tally’s top 10 tier, while almost every other composition that can be found in the region declines. Grammy-winning rock band Greta Van Fleet launches its new single “Tear It Down” at No. 4. The group will release its fourth full-length, Palace for the People, a week after Lambert’s Crisco arrives.

Linkin Park Scores Another Top 10 Bestseller

Starting off at No. 9 is an updated version of Linkin Park’s “Heavy Is the Crown.” The track, originally featured on the hard rock outfit’s comeback set From Zero, is featured in the documentary Linkin Park: Unshatter, which will hit theaters later in September.

Linkin Park has been doling out tracks from the live project for more than a month. Fan favorites “Somewhere I Belong,” “What I’ve Done” and “Faint” have already arrived since the band began promoting the project in August.
