Shania Twain dropped her seventh studio album Little Miss Twain earlier this summer. The project underperformed commercially and marked her first set to miss the top 10 on the Billboard 200. In fact, it failed to break into the highest half of the 200-space ranking of the most popular albums and EPs in the United States, as Little Miss Twain stalled at No. 131. The full-length also missed the top 20 on the Top Country Albums roster, where, theoretically, Twain’s latest should perform best.
Only a short time later, the celebrated country performer is back on the Billboard charts, long after Little Miss Twain disappeared. This time around, she scores a new hit alongside a genre favorite and manages to climb higher than ever before on one of Billboard’s most competitive rundowns.
Shania Twain Hits a New Career High
Twain reaches a new career best on the Digital Song Sales chart this week, and she comes closer than ever before to breaking into the top 10. “Boots,” her team-up with Kane Brown, opens at No. 13 this frame after selling a little more than 1,300 copies on platforms like iTunes and Amazon.
“Boots” lands several spaces higher than where “Party for Two” peaked more than 20 years ago. That collaboration with Billy Currington stalled at No. 15. Twain’s three other hits that have landed on the Digital Song Sales chart — “Waking Up Dreaming,” “Giddy Up!” and “Today Is Your Day” — all peaked in positions lower than No. 25, where the tally ends these days.
Kane Brown Has Scored More Than a Dozen Sales Smashes
Brown has performed significantly better on the Digital Song Sales chart than his collaborator. Out of 42 tracks by the country artist that have landed on the ranking – including quite a few that would not appear on the truncated roster today – 16 have broken into the top 10.
Brown has dominated the Digital Song Sales tally twice. He first reached No. 1 on his own with “For My Daughter,” and then several years later returned to the summit alongside his wife Katelyn with “Thank God.”
Shania Twain Scores One of the Week’s Biggest Debuts
Six tunes debut on the 25-spot Digital Song Sales chart this week, and Twain and Brown score the fourth-loftiest entry of that bunch. Miley – who now goes by that one name as opposed to Miley Cyrus – starts her latest release, “Bass Persuades,” at No. 2 behind Ella Langley’s unstoppable “Choosin’ Texas.” Blackpink singer Lisa launches “Sawadika” at No. 7, just ahead of “The Government” from political rapper Tom MacDonald.
Shania Twain Nearly Returns to the Billboard Hot 100
“Boots” lands on another two tallies in America, though it does not bring Twain to a new career high point on either of them. The cut kicks off its time at No. 36 on the Hot Country Songs chart, which looks at the most-consumed tunes in that style.
“Boots” fails to break onto the Billboard Hot 100, the list of the most-consumed cuts of any style in the nation, by only a few rungs. Instead, it begins its time on the Bubbling Under Hot 100 chart at No. 9. The 25-space ranking serves as an extension of the Billboard Hot 100 for tracks that have yet to reach the main roster. Technically, the cut’s arrival gives both Twain and Brown a new top 10 win on a Billboard chart, though not one that most artists are ecstatic to reach.
