Sombr has been releasing music since 2021, but it wasn’t until the indie-pop artist dropped “Back to Friends” in the last days of 2024 that he delivered a song that would propel him to superstardom. That cut was the first single from his then-forthcoming album, I Barely Know Her, which wouldn’t arrive until August 2025, and it was “Back to Friends” that became his first major win on the Billboard charts.
After churning out multiple singles from I Barely Know Her, Sombr has spent 2026 hyping an as-yet-unannounced forthcoming collection. Three singles – “Homewrecker,” “Potential” and “My Body Isn’t Ready” – have already arrived, and the first of that trio rises to new peaks on multiple Billboard charts this week. Sombr is blocked from earning another No. 1 on several lists, including those that focus on different styles, as “Homewrecker” almost conquers some of the most competitive Billboard rankings in America.
Sombr Almost Reaches No. 1 With “Homewrecker”
“Homewrecker” rises to No. 2, returning to its all-time high on both the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts. Once again, “Homewrecker” stops just short of running the show. The cut sat in third place only a few days ago.
“Homewrecker” Appears at No. 2 on Four Billboard Charts
“Homewrecker” lives on 14 Billboard charts, and it currently appears at No. 2 on four of them. As it surges back to second place on both the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs and Hot Alternative Songs rankings, “Homewrecker” is steady in that position on both the Pop Airplay and Hot Rock Songs lists, holding exactly where it landed last period.
“Dracula” Blocks “Homewrecker” from Ruling
On all four of the charts where “Homewrecker” is kept back from ruling, it is “Dracula,” the global smash by Tame Impala and Blackpink singer Jennie, that leads the charge. “Dracula” is a non-mover atop the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs and Hot Alternative Songs rundowns. The collaboration climbs to the summit on the Pop Airplay tally, one of three pop radio rosters published by Billboard each week, for the first time. Both Tame Impala and Jennie score their first champion on the top 40 register in the process.
Sombr May Score Another Leader Very Soon
“Homewrecker” looks like it may soon become Sombr’s third No. 1 on the Hot Rock & Alternative Songs, Hot Rock Songs and Hot Alternative Songs charts. “Back to Friends” spent just under half a year, 25 weeks, atop each and every one of those lists. Just before that smash began a historic run, “Undressed” became his first leader.
Over on the Pop Airplay chart, “Back to Friends,” which only held court in the penthouse for two periods beginning in February of this year, is his sole ruler. “Homewrecker” is thus far Sombr’s only tune to peak at No. 2 on all four tallies, though it may grow and become one more leader at any point in the coming weeks.
“Homewrecker” Hits New Peaks on Several Charts
“Homewrecker” steps up on eight of the 14 Billboard charts on which it currently appears, and the single establishes a new high point on two of them. “Homewrecker” nearly enters the top 10 on the Alternative Airplay rundown, pushing from No. 12 to No. 11. On the Billboard Hot 100, the song may soon become another top 10 win, as it currently lands at No. 15.
