In a major blow to President Donald Trump’s immigration agenda, the Supreme Court ruled that his executive order to end birthright citizenship was unlawful and violated the 14th Amendment. Justice Brett Kavanaugh concurred with the judgment but dissented in part— he disagreed that the executive order violated the 14th Amendment and instead argued that it infringed on a federal statute. But, Kavanaugh outlined a potential avenue Congress could take to restrict birthright citizenship. Immigration attorney Kate Lincoln-Goldfinch joined “Forbes Newsroom” to discuss the decision.
