Little Spoon x Target
Little Spoon
Target is having fun behind the scenes, and it’s noticeable up and down each aisle.
It’s always been a store to browse the aisles and leave with items you didn’t intend to purchase. But as the mass retailer has shifted its grocery business in recent years, you’re now heading to Target for different reasons in the first place, now becoming a place for discovery of food and beverage products–putting more emphasis on its curation.
“We’re focused on carving our own lane–an assortment that’s craveable, cool and feels very much like our distinct point of view on food, not just any assortment of food,” John Conlin, Target Senior Vice President of Food & Beverage Merchandising, tells me. “Target is known as a place for trends and style, and the way that I’ve approached this next chapter with food is through that same lens, standing tall for new and emerging trends for busy families and building an assortment around that.”
While its Good & Gather private label has been performing strong and consists of some of its highest performing products, Target has been putting a spotlight on its grocery business and providing a growth engine for small food and beverage businesses with an emphasis it previously never has. It’s fueling a rebirth of Target as one of the nation’s leading grocers, not just mass retailers.
According to data shared with me from Target, Food & Beverage is now Target’s top driver of traffic in its stores, with about $9 billion in growth since 2019, and an additional $2 billion of growth expected ahead.
“The ability to be there for busy families more often is core to what Target is trying to bring to retail,” Conlin says. “It drives more trips into the store. It creates more loyalty. And it allows us to introduce guests to new and emerging trends, which is really core to our DNA.”
Target is also working toward increasing the amount of organic produce it carries, aiming now for 30%.
Target introduced more than three thousand new food & beverage products in Q1 of 2026 alone, more than half of those just in the Summer. Snacks, dairy and frozen are its top new growth categories.
These brands are going to have to put in a lot of work to keep shoppers purchasing their products and becoming loyal consumers. It’s possible they won’t all be on the shelf in a year from now. But the opportunity to put in the work to market their items properly is.
“What brands need to scale is to truly understand the guest needs at a high level, and the ability to manage a lot of stores and locations needs to be quite strong,” Conlin says. “Having the most craveable and cool assortment in retail is what we’re pushing into really aggressively right now.”
Below are some of the latest products that have recently launched or are launching soon in Target. What stands out about all of the brands featured below, is that they each have a similar sentiment towards Target: that it has been willing to work closely with each of their respective emerging brands to provide a platform to succeed, which long ago may have been a non-starter for a mass retailer.
FROZEN
Ripi Frozen Ravioli
Ripi proves that ‘fresh never frozen’ is an obsolete saying. At a time when higher-quality products are being added to frozen sections across retail, Ripi is on track to become the standout pasta product in this category. While ravioli is not new to grocery stores, this premium ravioli takes a new approach to amplifying frozen technology to lock in peak freshness–something no refrigerated stuffed pasta can claim.
“The Target launch gave us a really meaningful national footprint and introduced the brand to shoppers well beyond our original markets,” founder Ian Tecklin tells me. “It validated that consumers are looking for frozen products that combine convenience and value with a genuinely elevated, restaurant-quality experience.”
Ripi recently launched its Basil Pesto flavor in Target, which also carries its Beef Short Rib, Cacio e Pepe and Sweet Potato flavors in all of Target’s major regions across more than 1,000 stores. Each of the unique yet approachable flavors creates an elevated experience to make a convenient dinner, and the dough that coddles each ball of filling tastes as fresh and al dente as homemade.
“Our early conversations with Target quickly shifted to where the frozen pasta category could go over the next five to ten years. It reinforced that we shared the same vision–consumers were looking for something more modern, more premium and more exciting than what had historically been available in the aisle,” Tecklin says. “Target’s support has given Ripi a national platform much earlier in our journey than we could have achieved on our own.”
Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches
Nightingale
Nightingale Ice Cream Sandwiches
Nightingale has created the most beloved modern ice cream novelty across America, and its rapid retail expansion continues with Target, as it introduces a new exclusive flavor, S’mores, in partnership with the National Park Foundation in September. With every purchase going toward supporting America’s national parks, the new flavor features toasted marshmallow ice cream with marshmallow fluff swirled through, layered between two honey graham cookies.
Many Target stores carry 4-packs of Nightingale’s Banana Pudding, Cookie Monster, Brookie Dough, Strawberry Shortcake and Classic “Chomps,” mini butterfat ice cream sandwiches with a thick block of ice cream marrying two soft and chewy cookies. Nightingale is known for its handcrafted ice cream sandwiches in a whole slew of quirky flavors, which began as a real dessert item at the husband-and-wife founders’ restaurant in Virginia.
“Target has helped us grow from a regional favorite into a nationally recognized brand while staying true to who we are,” cofounder and CEO Hannah Pollack tells me. “Target has always been my favorite store, so walking into Target headquarters in Minneapolis to present Nightingale was one of those surreal, full-circle moments. Sitting across the table talking about a product that I started making by hand in our tiny kitchen felt incredibly rewarding.”
PORTA Frozen Pizza
PORTA, the premium frozen pizza brand, prides itself on its fresh Italian ingredients, like its wheat flour from Le Marche, tomatoes from Campania and extra-virgin olive oil from Puglia. Every PORTA pizza begins with a biga starter, ferments slowly for over 24 hours, and is hand-stretched, providing a light and airy Roman-style crust. Target is offering its shoppers high Italian quality in a most convenient format alongside many legacy frozen pizza brands. Target carries its Margherita, Pepperoni Mushroom & Fontina and Sweet & Spicy Sopressata pizzas at nearly every location.
“What began as a four-stool panini shop in Toronto grew into a collection of beloved restaurants and, eventually, PORTA—our founder’s way of bringing that same food and experience into people’s homes,” PORTA President Abby Haines tells me “To now see PORTA available across the U.S. is a true pinch-me moment and a testament to what can happen when you stay true to your values.”
PORTA recently launched a specific ambassador program for Target called Famiglia Ambassador, which rewards its community specifically for discovering PORTA at Target. “The Target launch is about much more than increased distribution. It means more families can gather around the table and enjoy a quick, convenient meal that still feels special,” says Haines. “Seeing PORTA in Target stores represents years of small wins adding up–From perfecting our recipes and scaling production to supporting our retail partners, while never compromising the authentic Italian craftsmanship that made consumers choose us in the first place.”
Loopini Frozen Pizza
Loopini
Loopini Frozen Pizza
Loopini is a new frozen pizza brand showing how ingredients can be utilized to enhance both taste and functionality. Its hero ingredient, lupini beans, not only gives Loopini frozen pizzas incredibly high amounts of protein, but provides a taste better than practically any other frozen pizza. Loopini is about to double its footprint to about half of Target stores nationwide in its Classic and Bianca Tartufo flavors, plus an exclusive launch in early 2027.
Loopini first got introduced to Target at the Summer Fancy Food trade show in New York in 2025, launching in the store less than a year later. Embracing his Italian roots, cofounder Damiano Messineo has been working to show that real Italian pizza can in fact be healthy–even launching a marketing campaign where he ate one of his Loopini pizzas every day for 100 days leading up to an Ironman.
“We are offering the pizza with the best macros on the market,” Messineo tells me. “Not only does it have a complete protein with all nine amino acids, but also fiber and a low glycemic index. It’s a product that a lot of people have always wanted but have never had”.
David Vanilla Bean Frozen Dessert
David
David Pints
Known for its high protein, low calorie line of products, David has rebranded what diet culture can look like. David’s take on ice cream started rolling out in a brick-and-mortar scoop shop in New York City, and is now beginning its first retail partnership with Target. Starting online, then on endcap displays and now about to hit nearly all Target stores behind the frosted doors nationwide in Cookie Dough, Vanilla Bean, Triple Peanut Butter and Triple Chocolate Brownie flavors, David is launching a Target exclusive limited-time Pumpkin Spice flavor for the Fall season, with more new flavors expected in 2027.
“Target has been crushing it in health, and their guest looks a lot like David’s core customer,” David founder Peter Rahal tells me. “Shoppers go to Target to discover new products, so they were excited to introduce their guests to a brand with a superior macronutrient profile and strong lifestyle branding.”
Target has created a unique relationship with David, exemplifying its eagerness to work with brands at any stage of its business and create a partnership that practically makes sense. Initially launching its Gold line of protein bars in 2025 online, later to move to endcaps only, then its permanent shelves–some in four-packs, and some individual bars at the checkout lane. Its Bronze line of protein bars are currently featured on Target’s participating Back-to-School merchandising displays. “That willingness to back innovation is a real driver of our growth, and part of why we’re so excited to partner with Target to launch David Frozen Dessert nationally,” Rahal says. “We see Target as central to our growth going forward.”
SNACKS
GoNanas Mini Muffins
GoNanas
GoNanas Mini Muffins
GoNanas has a longstanding relationship with Target that is now expanding from the baking aisle to the snack aisle. Its Blueberry, Cinnamon Roll and Chocolate Chip pre-made mini muffins are a mass retail Target exclusive through early 2027, at which point more flavors will roll out into Target. GoNanas considers Target its innovation partner, so between its baking mixes and mini muffins, many new exclusive flavors will continue to roll out into Target stores across the country.
The banana bread-centered baking brand now enters the snacking category with its fresh take on nostalgic mini muffins that are allergen-free, school-safe and an all-around satisfying bite first thing in the morning or as an afternoon snack, bringing to life its core baking mixes without the oven.
“Target has seen the vision and leaned in with us,” cofounder Morgan Friedman tells me. “They worked with us to bring cutting edge innovation to the set and meet the Target consumer where they are. It’s allowed us to grow immensely as a brand and bring better-for-you baked goods to the mass channel.”
Fancypants cookies
Fancypants
Fancypants Cookies
Pepperidge Farm premiumized the cookie category, then Tate’s continued that momentum. Fancypants is today’s next chapter of that story. The flaky, bite-sized cookies that sit on the shelf in its fancy red pouches make every day of the year feel like a holiday party, and Target is invited. Fancypants has an elaborate line of cookie flavors, but Target carries its Chocolate Chip, Salted Caramel and S’mores cookies in about a third of its stores across the country. Fancypants Mint Chocolate and Ginger Snap cookies will be ringing in the holiday season this year at nearly every Target location, as nothing is more festive during the holidays than the perfect conversation-starter cookie.
“We’ve built a wonderful business in some powerful and specialty retailers, but Target, as a national mass retailer, lends a different kind of legitimacy to our products and brand,” founder Maura Duggan tells me. “It gives us major national recognition and an opportunity to become known by a lot more shoppers.”
Duggan is a former neuroscientist who started a specialty fresh cookie business about 20 years ago, then launched Fancypants as consumer packaged cookies only about two years ago, scaling the business efficiently, while demonstrating that consumers still want snacks like cookies to be made with high-quality ingredients without over-functionality.
“For the last five to ten years, much of the cookie category has been about restrictions or what cookies don’t have–allergen specific products or cookies making dietary claims. Our cookies are about the core of the cookie category: indulgence. We have more butter, more chocolate and more flavor than our competitors. We only use pantry ingredients, and you can truly taste the difference.”
Mosh High Protein Bar
MOSH
Mosh Protein Bars
After former First Lady of California Maria Shriver lost her father to Alzheimer’s, she and her son, Patrick Schwarzenegger, decided to use their platform to bring more awareness to brain health. The result is MOSH. MOSH bars are the first and only bars to exclusively feature Cognizin’s proprietary Citicoline, the brain-health nutrient, as part of its signature ‘brain blend,’ which also includes lion’s mane, ashwagandha, and omega-3s. Most recently, MOSH launched a protein version of its bars, including 20-grams of protein in addition to its brain blend, and creatine. They just launched 4-packs exclusively in all Target stores in Peanut Butter Cup, Chocolate Sea Salt and Oatmeal Chocolate Chip flavors, and single serve bars in about half of Target
“Roughly eight in ten shoppers who bought MOSH at Target had never bought MOSH before. Through Target, we are introducing brain health nutrition to more people,” Schwarzenegger says.
Shriver had a previous relationship with Target through other work, and always wanted to have Target as her primary retailer. “Target is where families shop, and it is where women make the decisions for their households,” Schwarzenegger adds. “Two out of three Alzheimer’s patients are women. If you want to reach the caregivers, you go where the caregivers already are.”
Every MOSH bar sold benefits the Women’s Alzheimer’s Movement at Cleveland Clinic. “Brain health used to live in the supplement aisle, in clinical packaging, behind language most people could not easily understand. What is new at Target is that it now lives in the lunchbox aisle, next to the granola bars, in a format people already reach for every day,” Schwarzenegger says. “The bigger we get at Target, the more research gets funded. The two are inseparable by design.”
Ancient Crunch Masa Chips & Vandy Crisps
Carrying Masa Chips and Vandy Crisps, the premium tortilla and potato chips, respectively, shows that Target believes these products do not only belong in wealthy households, but all households. The beef-tallow fried chips, still in an early rollout phase mostly in California, are proof that healthier and simpler ingredients often make a product taste even better, and people seem to be willing to pay the price, especially given they are a bit cheaper at Target than other retailers.
Available at Target in Original and Lime Masa Chips and French Onion and BBQ Vandy Crisps, parent company Ancient Crunch works to seek out the most pristine way to source ingredients and create the perfect chip, with nixtamalized corn and organic potatoes, and most notably seen in their stand-up matte bags. The chip brand is working to make it as mainstream as possible to prove that all of America deserves the best possible chips, and heading to Target shelves is a big step forward in proving that thesis.
“Target is where America shops. The natural channel has been an amazing partner for us to date, and we love working with them, but in the long run if you want to fix food in America you need to be in ‘normal’ stores too,” cofounder Seth Goldstein tells me. “Our success over the last 12 months in the natural channel finally gave the Target buyer enough confidence to say yes.”
Conlin adds: “The affordability play that we have actually puts us in a great position to give the guest options at all levels of premiumization, but at a really affordable price point.”
REFRIGERATED
Sunnice Pizza Pack, Taco Pack, Jam Pack
Sunnie Snacks
Sunnie Lunch Packs
Lunchables finally has a real competitor. Sunnie Snacks is about to launch its ‘lunch packs’ at most Target stores across the country, including its Taco Pack, Jam Pack (exclusive to Target), and Pizza Pack, which will roll out in late 2026. Each Lunch Pack includes Sunnie’s classic dippers plus a variety of other snacks like granola bars, meat sticks or a block of cheese.
It’s a full circle moment for Sunnie, the health-forward kids snacking brand that has cleaned up legacy staples to make parents satisfied with convenient options. When cofounders Katy Tucker and Lisette Howard started the company several years ago, the initial goal was to create a full lunchbox that makes parents’ lives easier, but quickly realized it would take longer to succeed at the venture, pivoting to a more simple dippable snack format, which have been on many Target shelves since 2023. Now, they are ready to bring their original concept to shelves.
“Target has been a dream partner as we’ve scaled Sunnie,” Tucker tells me. “Not only are the buyers in HQ extremely supportive, but so are many other ends of the business–whether it be their inventory planners working with us on forecasting or their marketing teams boosting ads with our content. They truly have leaned in and care about the success of an emerging brand like Sunnie.”
Sunnie’s lunch packs are the perfect example of Target’s focus on platforming healthier versions of legacy brands. “Target originally wanted to launch in 2027, but quickly saw that this will be a great fit with Target’s wellness strategy so fast-tracked it for September of 2026,” Tucker says. “With a partner like Target we can finally reach the corners of America where families are asking for a product like Sunnie.”
Petit Pot Extra Creamy Chocolate Pudding
Petit Pot
Petit Pot French Puddings
Petit Pot’s single-serve line of delicious French custardy desserts have been in many Target stores for several years, but this Fall, Target will expand its offerings to include Petit Pot’s Chocolate Pudding with Protein with 10g of protein per cup. You’d never know the indulgent puddings made with whole milk and real chocolate have added protein in them.
“Petit Pot has traditionally been the little treat at the end of the day. Protein gives us permission to show up at 3pm too,” CEO Eric Lallart tells me. “While people may put protein in the “better-for-you” bucket, we try not to think about food that way. We prefer ‘better-made,’ real ingredients, sensible portions and something genuinely worth eating.”
Petit Pot is in a strong growth phase at the moment, and heading to Target shelves in a more convenient format, standard pudding cups rather than its signature glass cups, makes the product more kid-friendly, accessible overall and provides more options to consumers.
“Petit Pot is built around a simple French idea–small is enough when it is truly satisfying,” Lallart says. “The Protein range is just another expression of that philosophy–nourishment without turning food into a calculation.”
Painterland Sisters Skyr Yogurt
Painterland Sisters
Painterland Sisters Skyr Yogurt
In just a couple of years, Painterland Sisters has become one of the defining yogurt brands in America with its nutrient-dense skyr yogurt that has a captivating consistency. Target has taken notice too and is now bringing the yogurt to more than 500 of its stores in Vanilla Bean, Meadow Berry and Savannah’s Peach flavors.
Painterland Sisters is a farmer-owned brand rooted in founders Hayley and Stephanie Painter’s family dairy farm in Northern Pennsylvania. Through their regenerative organic yogurt brand, the sisters are showing the importance of supporting small family farms. They saved their own family farm from being sold by figuring out how to create a mainstream product that’s now beloved by Americans across the country and sold at Target.
“Launching at Target is an incredible opportunity to introduce Painterland Sisters to more families and make nourishing food more accessible. It will also allow us to meet consumers where they already shop while bringing the story and impact of family farming to more communities,” Hayley Painter tells me. “It connects more consumers to the direct source of their food, the American farmer. Beyond what’s inside the cup, every purchase creates a ripple supporting family farms, strengthening rural communities, and helping preserve a way of life for generations to come.”
Mooski Overnight Oat Bites
Mooski
Mooski Overnight Oat Bites
Target has enabled Mooski to expand its offerings of refrigerated overnight oat products, recently launching its chilled, creamy, chocolate-coated overnight oat bites in several hundred stores. With a successful rollout, Mooski Cookie Dough and Peanut Butter bites are about to expand to nearly 400 Target stores in nearly every major region.
“Launching in Target has provided us with even more credibility with other retailers, investors and consumers, and has helped us grow our revenue,” founder Robert Broome tells me. “We received feedback that a lower-calorie, portion-controlled product would really resonate with consumers given the growing adoption of GLP1s and an overall trend towards more intentional snacking, so we developed the individually-wrapped bites [compared to full-size bars].”
Target took a chance on an emerging brand like Mooski–which is now the only overnight oat bite product on the market. The refrigerated aspect of Mooski makes it particularly unique, adding a refreshing element and no need for artificial preservatives. “Our overnight oat bites offer Target shoppers a truly unique indulgence and texture experience, that is also low in sugar, calories and made with clean ingredients.”
Conlin adds: “We’re seeing a refrigerated snacking trend in general. We have a legacy with Once Upon a Farm who brought in some of the refrigerated products with even cleaner ingredients and a bit more of a fresh-forward approach–the perfect blend of a better-for-you trend meets something that’s fun and indulgent.”
BREAKFAST
Backflip Cereal
In a sea of better-for-you brands, the nostalgic branding that speaks to little kids–particularly in the cereal aisle–has largely been stripped away. That’s what Backflip cofounders entrepreneur Shaun Neff, YouTuber Ben Azelart and Matt Clifford aim to bring back. “The kids’ cereal category stopped talking to kids. Somewhere along the way the fun got engineered out,” Clifford tells me.
Backflip launched exclusively in all Target stores nationwide this Summer with Chocolate Sundae, Strawberry Milkshake, Cinnamon Magic and Fruit Galaxy flavors. In October, Backflip will launch a fifth flavor, Frosted Dreams, as a Target exclusive, which will be featured on an endcap display for the holiday season. For Black Friday, Backflip will also drop limited edition trading cards exclusively inside boxes at Target, with a chance to be featured in one of Azelart’s videos.
“Target took a bold position that artificial dyes do not belong in the cereal set, and a substantial share of legacy items came out as a result. They made room for brands built to a different standard,” Clifford says. “This is the most engaged I have ever seen a retailer be with an emerging brand. Most retailers give you a shelf and wish you luck. Target treated our launch as part of their story about where the aisle is going, not as a line item in a planogram. For a small, better-for-you brand, that changes the math entirely.”
In its first three weeks on Target shelves, Backflip roughly doubled the category average in velocities and sales. “We built flavors kids fight over, then refused to ship them until the nutrition panel was right. So far it’s working,” Clifford says. “Cereal shoppers aren’t being moved from one box to another. Kids and families are walking into Target specifically to find us.”
Simple Mills ROC-Certified Cinnamon Swirl Muffin & Cake Mix
Simple Mills
Simple Mills ROC-Certified Oat Flour Cinnamon Swirl Muffin & Cake Mix
More than a decade since debuting on Target shelves, Simple Mills continues to expand its presence, launching one of its first Regenerative Organic Certified products at the mass retailer, ROC-Certified Oat Flour Cinnamon Swirl Muffin & Cake Mix, in more than 500 Target stores.
“It’s especially exciting to launch a ROC-Certified product at Target as it makes it easier for consumers to connect pantry staples to farming practices designed to support soil health through reimagined nostalgic treats families already love,” Christina Skonberg, Simple Mills Head of Sustainability, tells me.
Target carries 35 Simple Mills products, including new-to-shelves Pop Mmms, Mini Crunchy Cookie Snack Packs and Sweet Mmms Cocoa Snack Packs in all doors. Some Target stores have also started offering Simple Mills on-the-go single packs at checkout counters, increasing its points of sale across the store and increasing the elaborate Simple Mills presence at Target.
As one of the nation’s top snacking brands, Simple Mills will begin rolling out updated packaging to reflect its new Non-UPF (Ultra-Processed Food) Verified status, reflecting the minimal processing done behind the scenes at Simple Mills’ processing plants to maintain the nutrient integrity of its ingredients.
“While our products organically appeal to natural shoppers, part of our mission is to reach more conventional shoppers nationwide in order to expand the impact we can make through our food,” Skonberg says. “Target has been instrumental in this, particularly as consumer behavior shifts toward intentional shopping and better-for-you snacking becomes mainstream.”
Little Spoon Pancake Spoonies
Little Spoon
Little Spoon Pancake Spoonies
What started as an online subscription platform has blossomed into one of the most noteworthy retail partnerships today. Little Spoon, the expansive line of health-conscious products for families, continues to strengthen its relationship with Target as its exclusive retail partner, surpassing 40 products on its shelves by the end of 2026. The newest addition to its lengthy product lineup at Target is Little Spoon’s Pancake Spoonies, a microwavable, spoonable pancake in a cup, with 9g of protein and 5-6g of fiber per cup, ready in two minutes.
“Breakfast is one of those moments we hear about constantly from parents: mornings are chaotic, kids need something substantial, and parents need it to be both fast and healthy,” cofounder and Chief Product Officer Angela Vranich tells me. “We intentionally launched them ahead of back-to-school season because that’s when the morning scramble becomes very real.”
Little Spoon has worked hand-in-hand with Target to identify gaps for toddlers, kids and families for exclusive products, including its Fruit Puzzlers (puzzle-shaped fruit snacks) and a frozen multi-serve line like its Mini Turkey Kale Meatballs and Super Chicken Dippers. The strategic partnerships brings Little Spoon into the next phase of its business, helping lower the trial from the online experience–allowing parents to passively pick up a Little Spoon product during a regular grocery run instead of actively shopping for it online.
“We now show up across the store, from baby’s first foods to toddler snacks, smoothies, yogurt, breakfast and frozen foods for bigger kids,” Vranich says. “We’ve always thought about Little Spoon as bigger than any one category–the goal is to grow alongside families and keep solving for what they need as their kids grow.”
Noon Liquid Breakfast
Noon
Noon Liquid Breakfast
Essentially a protein shake that’s designed to be a breakfast replacement, Noon is entering the US market from Australia by partnering with Target for its debut. The ready-to-drink beverages, made of milk and oats, come in flavors Creamy Vanilla, Milk Chocolate and Honey Banana with 20g of protein and 5g of fiber each.
“Target has been transformative for us as a small, founder-led brand, and it’s given us instant national credibility and shelf visibility that normally could take a CPG company years to earn,” cofounder Cade Fleming tells me.
Previous relationships with Target from prior ventures enabled Noon to begin conversations before any official US launch, and make the decision to launch in mass retail right away instead of the more typical slow-growth route. “Most brands spend years proving themselves through direct-to-consumer, then indie retail, before eventually earning a slot in mass. We went to Target before we had a finished product or a brand,” Fleming says. “We engaged Target early enough to let those conversations refine and elevate the proposition.”
BEVERAGE
Houseplant THC Beverages
Houseplant
Houseplant THC Sparkling Water
Target is taking risks, most notably shown by permitting THC beverages on its shelves. Founded by Mikey Mohr, Evan Goldberg and Seth Rogen, Houseplant is a low-dose hemp-derived THC sparkling water in Citrus, Black Cherry, Pineapple and Blackberry flavors–an expansion of Rogen’s Houseplant brand stemmed in premium cannabis accoutrement. Houseplant is currently sold at Target stores in states that permit THC beverages–Texas, Florida and Illinois, with Minnesota launching shortly–nearly 400 stores.
Although there are looming regulations set to go into effect in late 2026, Target has been working with Houseplant to navigate the waters and was still willing to bring the brand into its stores. “Target has made our products more accessible to a broader audience,” Mohr tells me. “Rather than requiring consumers to visit a specialty retailer, we gain exposure to general shoppers who can now discover and purchase our beverages while making their regular Target run. That convenience has helped introduce the brand to new consumers who may not have otherwise encountered us.”
The low-dose (3mg) THC beverage category provides an easy pathway into consuming these types of beverages for consumers who may have some initial hesitancy, showing them that it is quite a mild feeling. “Ahead of our launch, the Target THC set did not have 3mg beverages…We were one of the first companies to ever launch a low-dose THC beverage,” Mohr says. “We strongly believe that the low-dose consumer is the fastest growing segment of the market.”
Daizy’s Social Soda
Daizy’s
Daizy’s Social Soda
Another THC Beverage, Daizy’s markets itself as a social soda, providing an alternative to alcoholic beverages but for those who still want to feel a buzz, and Target is giving a rare retail platform to the growing business, selling six different flavors and a variety pack in Texas, Illinois Florida and Minnesota stores.
“When we entered the category, the zero-sugar, zero-calorie options were there but consumers had limited options for a true soda experience without excess sugar,” founding partner Jill Johnson tells me. “Daizy’s sits in that happy medium.”
Providing shelf space to not just an emerging brand, but an emerging category like THC beverages is a risk that Target does not need to take, but sees the strong and growing opportunity. Minnesota, where Target is headquartered, is, after all, a leading state in advancing the normalization of cannabis. “Target has been a strong advocate for hemp-derived THC beverages,” cofounder Josh Miller tells me. “As an emerging brand, it’s an amazing feeling to have the support of such an influential retailer. It helps raise awareness about the category and provides Daizy’s with the opportunity to share our brand with their shoppers.”
Conlin adds: “Some of this is tied to the wellness and better-for-you trends that are happening–shifts away, for some guests, from alcohol consumption, and something approachable for newcomers into the category.”
Leisure Hydration Beverage
Leisure
Leisure Hydration
As the hydration beverage market becomes an increasingly crowded category, Leisure Hydration continues to enable its growth by launching permanently in Target this Fall. Its Lemonade, Wild Blueberry and Tropical Mango flavors launched nationwide after a three-month seasonal test proved to Target buyers in just a few weeks that the product could succeed on shelves with a stronger commitment.
“The Target launch helps us reach millions of customers that currently shop us on Amazon or see us on social media but haven’t yet tried us in person,” cofounder Steve Michaelsen tells me.
Founded by two former Division 1 athletes, Leisure provides the electrolytes and hydration that the Michaelsen brothers always felt quenched with while they were athletes, but felt deprived of when they entered the business world. “We’re truly a lifestyle hydration drink, not a sports drink of the past or a boring vitamin water in a plastic sports bottle,” Michaelsen says. “Leisure is positioned as something you can have all day, everyday, to feel your best.
Wild Orchard ROC-Certified Black Matcha
Wild Orchard
Wild Orchard Black Matcha
As matcha becomes a mainstay, Wild Orchard is providing the latest innovation in the category. Instead of powderizing green tea to make green matcha, the Regenerative Organic Certified company based on Jeju Island, South Korea is powderizing black tea, offering a richer, chocolatier taste than what matcha is typically known for. Target is the product’s exclusive retail partner and views this product as its premium matcha option.
A premium product like this rolling out at Target before natural retailers is a signal that Target can be a go-to for optionality. “Target took the category on before anyone else would, which says something about how they think about innovation and wellness,” cofounder Michael Ham tells me. “We are a single-origin farm brand with a product most people had never heard of, and they gave it a shelf first.”
Wild Orchard applied to be in Target three times before getting the green light. At Expo West 2025, Ham got the opportunity to meet with the Target buying team, got invited to its Minneapolis headquarters, where Ham was expecting to simply start a relationship with its tea buyers and have them sample the black matcha. He was told on the spot that Target would bring on Wild Orchard in 2026. “I was taken aback. The best part was watching people who told me flatly that they ‘don’t like matcha’ try it and change their minds,” Ham says. “They are not waiting for a trend to be proven elsewhere before putting it in front of their shoppers. With a customer base that size, Target is in a position to drive the healthy- lifestyle conversation rather than follow it.”
Conlin adds: “Our guests respond really well to matcha and warm beverages, so the category trends are very strong at Target. Organic is something that we feel has still a lot of relevance with our guests and the regenerative side of that is another step forward.”
