TLC hasn’t released a new album in almost a decade, and no new material is expected from the singers. The R&B group was once a trio, but after the death of Lisa “Left Eye” Lopes nearly a quarter-century ago, the two remaining singers, T-Boz and Chilli, have continued on as a duo. TLC delivered one final full-length, a self-titled affair, in 2017, and since then only one-off tunes have appeared.
The Grammy winners are suddenly surging back onto charts all around the world after one of the troupe’s most famous smashes, “No Scrubs,” was recently used in the Amazon Prime Video series The Last Sunrise. In the scene, a character performs it during a karaoke session, and that sync seems to have been enough to turn the late-’90s blockbuster into a hit all over again, especially in the United Kingdom.
TLC’s “No Scrubs” Returns After 27 Years
“No Scrubs” returns to the Official Singles chart, the main ranking of the 100 most popular songs in the U.K. The tally is built using both sales and streaming data, and while “No Scrubs” likely experienced a gain in purchases, it is plays on platforms like Spotify, Apple Music and others that help it reappear. This frame, “No Scrubs” is back at No. 23, landing on the competitive tally for the first time in 27 years.
“No Scrubs” Remains TLC’s Biggest Hits
“No Scrubs” debuted on the Official Singles chart in April 1999. It launched within the top 10 at No. 7, and by mid-May climbed to its No. 3 high point. It remains TLC’s highest-ranking smash and one of four top 10s from the group. “Waterfalls” topped out at No. 4, while both a remix EP of the hit song “Creep” and “Unpretty” stalled at No. 6.
The last time “No Scrubs” appeared in a loftier position than where it returns this week was in late June 1999, when the track declined from No. 16 to No. 22.
TLC’s “No Scrubs” Reaches a New Streaming Peak
At the same time that “No Scrubs” finds its way back to the most important songs roster in the U.K., the track rises higher than ever on the Official Streaming chart. Last time around, the tune sat at No. 73, and now it ascends to No. 46.
“No Scrubs” launched on the Official Streaming chart in October 2024, then returned this spring. Since then, the cut has racked up 16 of its 17 total appearances on the 100-space list of the most-streamed tracks in the nation.
“No Scrubs” Returns to the Top Three on the Hip-Hop List
TLC’s classic also appears on the Official Hip Hop and R&B Singles chart, the only ranking where it is a top 10 hit. This period, the smash ascends from No. 8 to No. 3.
That position is not a new peak for the decades-old track, but it comes close to its previously-established high point. “No Scrubs” launched on the genre-specific ranking at No. 1 in the spring of 1999 and spent four frames out of just under 150 at the summit. The cut has not lived within the top three since June 1999, although it has been present on the ranking consistently since February.
