Top Seeds Dominate At The Association Of Pickleball Players 2026 Detroit Open

Men’s Pro Singles Recap

It is not often that the 36th seeded player out of a 37-player draw makes it to the medal rounds, but that’s precisely what happened in Detroit, as Hungarian star Bako Balint beat 4th seeded DeHeart, 20th seeded Davis, and 12th seeded Palm to get to the semis. After falling to top seed and eventual champion Ronan Camron, he took out Millet for the bronze; his first professionally.

Camron more than earned this title; he went three deep games in the 16s and quarters, then beat Balint 9,9 to make the final, where he topped No. 3 Dusty Boyer 11-8 in the third for an exhausting gold medal. It is Camron’s second career gold singles title, and first since last November in Mesa.

Women’s Pro Singles Recap

Top seed Kat Stewart made fast work of her opponents in both the quarters and semis of this 13-player draw, then ran into the red-hot Bobbi Oshiro in the final. Oshiro has now seen her ranking rise all the way to No. 3 on tour, and herself made the final of her 5th career APP Singles tournament without dropping a game. However, Stewart was just too much, pickling Oshiro in game one on her way to a 0,7 gold medal. This is Stewart’s 5th gold medal (ironically, in four of those gold medal matches she’s beaten Oshiro for the title) as she extends her lead atop the APP rankings.

Mixed Pro Doubles Recap

Sometimes players can overthink partnerships on tour, cutting bait despite stretches of success and then struggling to re-find that same success with their new partners. We may be seeing another example in Mixed on the APP, as long-time mixed partners Megan Fudge and Jack Munro have struggled to return to the success they had as a pair last fall with new partners in 2026. In Detroit, Fudge teamed with Aidan Schenk and lost in the final, while Munro & new partner Emilia Schmidt were upset in the semis and had to settle for Bronze.

In Detroit, it was 7th seeds Nicola Schoeman & Richard Livornese Jr. who outlasted the field and pulled off a rarity: they beat the No. 1 seeds (Fudge & Schenk), the No. 2 seeds (Oshiro & Millett) and the No. 3 seeds (Schmidt & Munro) en route to the title. It gave Livornese the double for the weekend, and gave Schoeman her first career pro gold medal.

Men’s Pro Doubles Recap

Top seeds Jack Munro & Richard Livornese Jr. continued their dominance of Men’s Pro doubles on the APP, winning their fourth straight domestic tournament to go along with a handful of international titles this year (English Open, Petrolimex Cup, and the Japan Open). They topped a throw-back pairing in the final in Etienne Blaszkewycz & Callan Dawson. The last time Callan Dawson won an APP medal was in January 2022, when he paired with Spencer Smith to take the silver in Mesa, losing to JW Johnson & Austin Gridley in that final.

Women’s Pro Doubles Recap

In a relatively “chalky” draw, the two top seeded teams made their way to the final of this draw, where top seeds Shelby Bates & Christine Maddox topped No. 2 seeded Megan Fudge & Kara Wheatley in the final. It’s Maddox’s first ever APP women’s doubles gold.
