The third, and final, leg of the PGA Tour’s FedEx Cup Playoffs starts Thursday with the Tour Championship. A week after the St. Jude Championship kicked off golf’s postseason, and the BMW Championship was the second leg, the field now turns to 30 players with one more tournament on the schedule next week.
Everything wraps up with the Tour Championship, and you’ll see the best players in the game in the field this week. It might not have the feel of a major tournament, but it will certainly be worth watching.
Let’s take a look at the details of the upcoming Tour Championship:
- Dates: Aug 27-30, 2026
- Location: Atlanta, Georgia
- Course: East Lake Golf Club
- Course Details: Par 70, 7,440 yards
- Field: Tour Championship Field
- Total Purse: $40 million
It’s still important to take a look at the past winners of this event:
Tour Championship Past Winners
- 2025 – Tommy Fleetwood
- 2024 – Scottie Scheffler
- 2023 – Viktor Hovland
- 2022 – Rory McIlroy
- 2021 – Patrick Cantlay
Let’s take a look at pre-tournament winner odds:
2026 Tour Championship Odds
- Scottie Scheffler (+340)
- Rory McIlroy (+810)
- Xander Schauffele (+1275)
- Ludvig Aberg (+1375)
- Sam Burns (+1475)
When it comes to picks for this event, I’d start with my favorite and long shot picks. The favorite pick is the winner pick I like the most. For the long shot winner, that is a golfer who has over +2000 odds to win. It is a long shot pick for a reason, and finding those can be like finding a needle in a haystack.
Here are my favorite and long shot picks for the 2026 Tour Championship:
Favorite: Scottie Scheffler (+340)
Long Shot: Viktor Hovland (+2600)
Last week Scheffler finished T12, and this was after battling hand, foot, and mouth disease all week. With a clean bill of health, I expect Scheffler to be in the mix when the dust settles at East Lake, and when you’re talking about a limited field even like this getting +340 odds it isn’t a bad deal.
As for my long shot, I feel it will have to be someone who can outlast Scheffler. I’ll go with someone getting good odds who has already beat Scheffler in a signature event. That would be Viktor Hovland, and at +2600 odds it would be quite the value pick. We nailed the long shot pick last week, so let’s see if we can keep the streak running.
Top 5 Bets For The Tour Championship 2026
- Wyndham Clark (+240)
- Rory McIlroy (+132)
The sportsbooks continue to throw shade on Clark, who has had one of the best seasons on tour, so when I saw +240 odds for Clark to be in the Top 5, in a field of 30 players, I’ll take that bet.
Likewise, McIlroy getting positive odds to be in the Top 5 was also too enticing to pass up. McIlroy had a horrible start to the FedEx Cup Playoffs, but turned it around last week at the BMW Championship. Hopefully Rory’s solid play continues at East Lake.
Top 10 Picks For The Tour Championship 2026
- Colin Morikawa (+108)
- Viktor Hovland (+130)
When it comes to Top 10 picks, Colin Morikawa is certainly capable of accomplishing this feat. His season has been a roller coaster, especially after his back injury earlier this season, but the hope is Morikawa can have a great finish to his season and end with a Top 10 finish.
Hovland, who won this tournament in 2023, is capable of winning this tournament, and getting +130 odds could be a great value play, even if it requires at least a T10 finish on Sunday.
Top 20 Value Picks For The Tour Championship 2026
With only 30 golfers in the field, to get any value in the Top 20 category would require a parlay, which I’m not interested in with such a limited field event. We’re going to pass on the Top 20 category this week.
Best Prop Bets, Parlays And Bonus Plays For The 2026 Tour Championship
For bonus plays, these are picks which I don’t necessarily hang my hat on, but still provide value for some who want more exotic plays outside of the aforementioned picks. Sometimes bonus plays are parlays, double chances, triple chances, and even some fun plays for that particular event.
Here are the bonus plays for the 2026 BMW Championship:
Double Chance: Scottie Scheffler or Si Woo Kim (+280)
Triple Chance: Scottie Scheffler / Xander Schauffele / Tom Kim (+225)
Margin of Victory: 2 Shots (+360)
