Telemundo has begun production on Emergencias: Unidad de Vida, its new medical drama. Filming is underway at its Telemundo Center studios in Miami, Florida.
Ana Brenda Contreras (La Reina del Sur, Run Coyote Run) and Erick Elías (El Señor de los Cielos, Vencer el Miedo) headline the series. They’re joined by Geraldine Bazán, Laura Flores, Ana Belena, Rodolfo Salas, Elizabeth Gutiérrez, Mónica Dionne and David Palacio, with Luis Ernesto Franco in a starring role and Arturo Peniche making a special appearance.
The series unfolds inside a hospital’s emergency room, where the pressure to save lives runs up against love, family loyalty and personal conviction.
The story centers on Gabriela Serrano, a medical resident whose return to Florida forces her to face a complicated family past. She arrives at a hospital fighting for survival, and that strain ripples through everyone around her. Doctors, staff and their families confront buried secrets, form unexpected alliances and make calls that blur the line between right and wrong, resulting in a high-energy drama of unexpected twists and ethical dilemmas.
Reflecting the Hispanic Experience
The project fits into a broader push at Telemundo to branch into genres the network hasn’t fully explored before. Javier Pons, Chief Content Officer and Head of Telemundo Studios, previewed the series late last year, describing it as part of that expansion into new scripted territory. He said then that the drama would be “a passionate story that is going to reflect what is happening to Hispanic people here in the States.”
With cameras now rolling, Pons framed the launch around the people: an extraordinary cast and creative team who will bring to life “the intensity of the medical world with relationships and themes that speak to the experiences and emotions of the Hispanic audience.”

The ensemble is rounded out by Gloria Aura, Jerónimo Cantillo, Elena Medina, Miguel Ferreira, Paola Fernández, Pepe Gámez, Vince Miranda, Roberto Mateos, Gloria Peralta, Emma Ramos, Sebastián Silva, Johann Vera and Sara Linares, whose characters’ lives intersect both inside and outside the hospital’s walls.
Emergencias: Unidad de Vida is a Telemundo Studios production written by Carlos Eloy Castro and directed by Nicolas Di Blasi and Luis Sierra. Javier Pons, Jacky Castro and Martha Godoy serve as executive producers.
