To celebrate its 15 years in Mexico, Netflix unveiled 15 new Mexican productions.

Netflix is celebrating 15 years in Mexico, marking the milestone by rolling out a new slate of 15 Mexican productions that will debut over the coming months across film, television, documentaries and reality programming.
The company first changed how audiences consumed television in the country 15 years ago, delivering on-demand access and binge-viewing of content from every corner of the globe, before turning Mexico into an international production hub.
In 2015 Netflix premiered the soccer comedy Club de Cuervos, starring Luis Gerardo Méndez and Mariana Treviño, its first original series created outside the United States, laying the foundation for an aggressive local production strategy. The company deepened its commitment in 2019, opening offices in Mexico City as part of its Latin America expansion.
“Celebrating 15 years in Mexico fills us with pride, but above all, with infinite gratitude to the creative community and to the millions of Mexicans who enjoy our content every day,” stated Carolina Leconte, VP of Content for Mexico and Licensing for Latin America at Netflix.
Between 2016 and 2025, the streamer produced and co-produced more than 200 titles in Mexico alongside 50 local production companies, with filming taking place across more than 100 cities. According to Netflix, those projects generated an economic impact of around $2.7 billion toward Mexico’s GDP, employing more than 15,000 crew members and 20,000 extras.
The new productions come as Netflix continues fulfilling its four-year, $1 billion investment into Mexican productions.
Proven Global Hits From Mexico
The expansion builds on an extensive roster of hits that found audiences well outside the region. Following the run of Club de Cuervos and its spinoffs, Manolo Caro’s La Casa de las Flores (The House of Flowers) became an international sensation that earned multiple seasons.
The erotic thriller Oscuro Deseo (Dark Desire), starring Maite Perroni (RBD, Triunfo del amor) and Alejandro Speitzer (Alguien tiene que morir), also became global Top 10 hit, paving the way for a second season.
On the feature side, Alfonso Cuarón’s Roma brought the streamer its first three Academy Awards in 2019, including wins for Best Foreign Language Film and Best Director. Among other acclaimed releases that followed: Alejandro G. Iñárritu’s Bardo and Guillermo del Toro’s Pinocchio, which picked up an Oscar for Best Animated Feature.
Most recently, the screen adaptation of Pedro Páramo film, starring Manuel García Rulfo (The Lincoln Lawyer), injected over 375 million pesos into the local economy while tripling demand for Juan Rulfo’s classic novel.
In the film “Contra el huracán,” two brothers fight to stay alive in the open ocean off Acapulco during a devastating storm.

The 15 titles ahead
For Leconte, the 15 productions not only celebrate Netflix’s history in the country, but ”they are also an invitation to keep exploring: new genres, new voices, and new ways of telling the stories of who we are. What excites us most about Mexico is that there is still so much left to discover.”
The anniversary slate spans multiple genres, from true-to-life disaster dramas and literary adaptations to athletic competitions and political thrillers. The upcoming Mexican titles include:
- Contra el huracán (Surviving Hurricane Otis): Directed by Jorge Michel Grau, this drama follows two brothers fighting for their lives in the open ocean off Acapulco during the devastating cyclone. The cast features Benny Emmanuel, Kristyan Ferrer, Mónica del Carmen, Mónica Jiménez, Gonzalo Vega, and Andrew Leland.
- Contraataque (Counterattack): Director Chava Cartas returns to helm this new installment, expanding the universe of the action feature that became one of the platform’s most-watched Mexican titles.
- El enemigo del pueblo (The Enemy of the People): Directed by Luis Estrada, the period drama follows Pedro Azcona (Emiliano Lach), a private-school student who joins the Zapatista revolution in 1993, only to reassess his past years later from a seat of privilege. The cast includes Alfonso Herrera, Cassandra Ciangherotti, José Ramón Soroiz, Rafaella López, Tessa Ía, Naian González Norvind, and Mauricio Isaac.
- 35 días (35 Days): Directed by Kyzza Terrazas and produced by Woo Films, the story follows a loving father (Mauricio Ochmann) confronting alcohol addiction during a month-long rehabilitation stay. Zuria Vega, Diana Bovio, Eme MalaFe, Daniel Tovar, and Anabel Ferreira co-star.
- Ceniza en la boca (Ashes): Directed by Diego Luna, the film tracks a sister and brother who travel from Mexico to reunite with their undocumented mother in Madrid, uncovering the harsh realities of migrant life abroad. Luisa Huertas, Guillermo Ríos, Sergio Bautista, and Benny Emmanuel star.

- Dogman (Dogman): Showrunner Sebastián Sariñana and director Cris Gris lead this series about a frustrated young worker who adopts a masked wrestling persona that threatens to consume his identity. The cast features Xiunel Castillo, WWE star Jorge Luis Alcantar (Santos Escobar), Roberto Aguilar, Andrea Chaparro, and Lizeth Selene.
- Un tipo de cuidado (A Careful Man): Directed by Samuel Kishi Lopo and produced by The Immigrant, the dramedy stars Damián Alcázar as a washed-up screen veteran who moves in with the estranged family of his late son, co-starring Diana Bovio.
- La madre perfecta (The Perfect Mother): Directed by Felipe Cano and José Ramón Chávez, the mystery series stars Camila Sodi and Osvaldo Benavides as spouses whose idyllic coastal life begins unraveling when a dead body surfaces in the sea.
- Rosario Tijeras. Temporada 6 (Rosario Tijeras. Season 6): Directors Danny Gavidia, David Romay, and Sergio Siruela direct Bárbara de Regil in her return as the title heroine, who must go undercover inside an elusive cartel network.
- Canelo Álvarez (Canelo Álvarez): Directed by Juan Camilo Cruz and produced by Unanimous Media, the sports documentary profiles boxing champion Saúl “Canelo” Álvarez as he prepares for his historic trilogy match against Gennady “GGG” Golovkin.
- El invencible verano de Liliana (Liliana’s Invincible Summer): Directed by Inna Payán and Samuel Kishi, this documentary adapts Cristina Rivera Garza’s acclaimed book, recounting the search for justice in her sister’s murder while confronting institutional impunity.
- Marcos: Otro mundo posible (Marcos. Another World Is Possible): Director Diego Enrique Osorno examines the ongoing legacy of the Zapatista movement in Chiapas through archival material and portraits of Subcomandante Marcos, produced by Detective.
- Keiko (Keiko): Directed by Santiago Fábregas and produced by Mezcla and The Lift Films, this non-fiction feature revisits the captive orca that became an international icon and the subject of a controversial release back into wild waters.
- Habilidad física 100: México (Physical 100: Mexico): Produced by EndemolShine Boomdog, this survival competition pits 100 athletes against one another in an arena inspired by pre-Hispanic architecture.
- Secreto millonario (Million Dollar Secret): Television host Adela Micha oversees an unscripted series where 12 celebrity contestants use deception and alliances on a private estate to compete for a cash jackpot, produced by EndemolShine Boomdog.
