Two years after the Godrej clan split their 129-year-old conglomerate between two family factions, brothers Adi and Nadir Godrej, who control consumer goods and property powerhouse Godrej Industries Group, are passing the baton to the next generation. In August, Adi’s Wharton-educated son, Pirojsha Godrej, took on the mantle of chairperson of the $7.2 billion in annual revenue group from his uncle Nadir, 75, who became chairman emeritus. Nadir simultaneously stepped down as chairperson of the group’s listed flagship, Godrej Industries, handing that role to Pirojsha, and retired from the boards of other listed group companies. Nadir’s son Burjis Godrej was given charge as chairperson of Godrej Agrovet.
