Krishna Chivukula debuts on India’s 100 richest list at No. 66 with a $4.4 billion fortune stemming from his 78% stake in Bangalore-based Indo-MIM. Founded by the aerospace engineer in 1996, the company makes high-precision metal parts for an array of industries, from aerospace and automotive to defense and healthcare. In India, Chivukula is considered a pioneer of metal injection molding, the manufacturing process from which the company derives its name. Indo-MIM claims to be the world’s largest maker of such molded products by capacity, including items like scalpel handles, sound tubes for hearing aids and pistol components.
For the year ended March 31, the company reported a 26% jump in both revenue and net profit, to 41.9 billion rupees ($437 million) and 5.3 billion rupees, respectively. In 2024, Chivukula donated a nearly 1% stake in Indo-MIM (valued at 2.3 billion rupees at the time) to his alma mater, the Indian Institute of Technology Madras, which has named an academic block after him. The company went public in July, raising 38.1 billion rupees. His son Krishna Chivukula Jr. is CEO while a younger son, Raj Chivukula, has a board seat.
