First-round voting for the upcoming 2027 Grammy Awards opens Monday, October 12, and Recording Academy members have until the 22nd to narrow the field for nominations at music’s biggest night.
With eligible releases spanning from August 31, 2025 through August 28, 2026 on the ballot, nearly every major music star — as well as the massive songwriters, producers, comedians and voice actors — is contending for recognition at the next year’s Grammys.
Beyond the marquee names, some of this cycle’s biggest storylines have been about who isn’t competing. Drake did not submit Iceman, Habibti or Maid of Honour, the three albums he released on the same day this year. A five-time Grammy winner, Drizzy is also not submitting any individual songs from them, following through on a vow seemingly made about the award show on Iceman closing track “Make Them Know” where he rapped: “This album, I’m never submittin’ it ‘cause I know that they’ll never consider it / This might be the one year I won ‘cause I know how they like to position it.” The move extends his pattern of sitting out the Grammys since his 2017 album More Life was eligible.
Two of the biggest K-pop acts in the U.S. are also absent. BTS announced in July they would not submit ARIRANG, their long-awaited comeback album behind the No. 1 single “SWIM.” Their statement came weeks after the Academy unveiled its new Best Asian Pop Music Performance category with the group sharing they hoped that their music could be “heard and loved for what it is, rather than being categorized by region or language.” (Interestingly enough, BTS is referenced on Drake’s opening Iceman track, “Make Them Cry,” where he shouts out the group’s road to international fame: “I’m feeling like BTS ‘cause it took the whole career for me to be so discovered.”) Stray Kids followed this month, with JYP Entertainment confirming the group did not submit before the Aug. 21 deadline, even though all eight members are now Academy voters.
Still, it will be an exciting race for recognition at this year’s Grammys. Below is a running look at what artists submitted for the 2027 Grammy Awards and where, updated as information becomes available. If an artist has only shared they have been submitted for consideration and not publicly specified a release or category, only the artist’s name is listed.
Stay tuned for further updates and submissions as they are revealed.
