Taylor Sheridan practically is Paramount’s TV division at this point. The actor-turned-writer/showrunner has rained hits down for years now, his breakout being Yellowstone, which began in 2018, and from that blossomed the Sheridan-verse.
Many of Sheridan’s series are connected to Yellowstone in some fashion, a group of five in total, but the rest are standalone, most having a blend of Sheridan’s action, humor and sex.
The shows aren’t just well-viewed; they are enormously profitable. According to Parrot Analytics, Sheridan’s TV shows have generated $800 million for Paramount+, factoring in subscriber growth and retention as metrics. At the time of the analysis in 2025, Mayor of Kingstown and Tulsa King were estimated to each have earned in the range of $146-$147 million each. But it’s unclear how recent superhit Landman may have destabilized that.
The bad news for Paramount is that Taylor Sheridan won’t be around forever. In 2025, he signed a deal with NBCUniversal for both film and TV, the film part starting in 2026 across eight years and TV starting in 2029 across five years. The deal, with certain criteria met, is estimated to be over $1 billion.
Few are putting many of Sheridan’s series on the Best of All Time lists, but they have enormous viewership, which is all that really matters in the end. Here’s the breakdown of the ongoing collection in chronological order, with seven still in production and two yet to come.
Yellowstone (2018-2024) – 5 Seasons
Reviews: 83% critic score, 76% audience score
The one that started it all. It was a broadcast hit before the Paramount+ show avalanche began, and was one of the most-watched series in America for a time. The tale of the Dutton ranch and the scandal and murder that kept it afloat perhaps ended on a down note with its star, Kevin Costner, departing, but out of it sprung a multitude of other series.
1883 (2021-2022) – 1 Season
Reviews: 89% critic score, 78% audience score
There are three prequel Yellowstone spinoff shows and counting, the first of which was led by Sam Elliot in a cowboy-era tale as early Duttons, played by Tim McGraw and Faith Hill, escape Texas and head to Montana, where the ranch was founded.
Mayor of Kingstown
Paramount
Mayor of Kingstown (2021-Present) – 4 Seasons (Season 5 coming)
Reviews: 64% critic score, 84% audience score
Mayor of Kingstown will tie Yellowstone as Sheridan’s longest-running series when season 5 arrives. The series stars Jeremy Renner, who handles a delicate power dynamic in a Michigan town sustained only by its large prison, an extreme endpoint of Sheridan’s shows focused on crime and punishment.
1923 (2022-2025) – 2 Seasons
Reviews: 94% critic score, 55% audience score
We are back to Yellowstone prequels, this time moving up 40 years from the last one to a series starring Harrison Ford and Helen Mirren as more Duttons, this time dealing with the likes of prohibition and the Great Depression. The highest critic-scored of Sheridan’s series, it came back for a second season, unlike 1883.
Tulsa King (2022-Present) – 4 Seasons (Season 5 not yet renewed)
Reviews: 87% critic score, 75% audience score
The second of three Sheridan shows with the word “King” in them, here Sylvester Stallone as a New York mafia boss released from prison who sets up shop in Tulsa, Oklahoma instead, and must start his power climb over again. While Tulsa King is not in the Yellowstone universe, it is the only other Sheridan series to have spawned its own spinoff so far, the upcoming Frisco King.
Lawmen: Bass Reeves

Lawmen: Bass Reeves (2023) – 1 Season
Reviews: 79% critic score, 93% audience score
The highest audience score of Sheridan’s projects, the limited series tackles an actual historical western figure rather than inventing new ones. David Oyelowo stars, and while it may be the most self-contained project here, it’s one of the best.
Lioness (2023-Present) – 3 Seasons (Season 4 not yet renewed)
Reviews 77% critic score, 76% audience score
Lioness has ascended the ranks to become one of Paramount’s most popular series, and having just wrapped up season 3, fans are looking for a season 4 renewal that seems likely to come. Maybe a spinoff as well. The Zoe Saldana-led series about a CIA team gets out of the Western/mob genres and into something unique to everything else on this list: military industrialism.
Landman (2024-Present) – 2 Seasons (Season 3 coming)
Reviews: 80% critic score, 58% audience score
Landman has rocketed to the top of Sheridan’s popularity meter thanks to star Billy Bob Thornton and a unique story about an oilman navigating the boom and bust world. There is crime and killing, to be sure, but often it’s more corporate throat-slitting than anything else.
The Madison (2025-Present) – 1 Season (Season 2 coming)
Reviews: 63% critic score, 72% audience score
An odd project that once started as a Yellowstone-adjacent series, but instead became a standalone venture. It stars Michelle Pfeiffer and Kurt Russell as a couple who move from NYC to Montana after their life is uprooted. It flew under the radar, but seasons 2 and 3 were essentially immediately greenlit.
Marshals (2025-Present) – 1 Season (Season 2 coming)
Reviews: 48% critic score, 28% audience score
Well, Marshals isn’t going to great, far and away the worst reviewed show of any of these. It’s one of two post-Yellowstone spinoff shows, this one starring Luke Grimes as Kayce Dutton, who is now a US Marshal working Montana, but the show itself does not exactly work as well as most of these others.
Dutton Ranch (2026-Present) – 1 Season (season 2 coming)
Reviews: 90% critic score, 85% audience score
In contrast, both critics and audiences are loving the other Yellowstone sequel, Dutton Ranch, which focuses on Kelly Reilly and Cole Hauser’s Beth and Rip after they move to Texas. It has the highest combined review score here, and seems set to live a long life on Paramount in the wake of Yellowstone’s end.
Frisco King – 2027 Premiere
The Samuel L. Jackson-led spinoff of Tulsa King, which takes his character’s story not to San Francisco, which would not be very Sheridan, but Frisco, Texas, where he builds his own criminal empire. It was originally going to be in New Orleans, which could have been more interesting. There are enough Texas shows!
1944 – ???? Premiere
The third and probably not final Yellowstone prequel, the setting is obviously the end of World War II, though we know essentially nothing about its plot or even who might be starring in it. It has been in development for years, but reportedly it is still on the way.
