It is a fairly tame week when it comes to new albums in America, as only a handful of superstar musical acts have delivered full-lengths this Friday (July 31), the beginning of a new tracking period. Ariana Grande’s Petal easily leads the iTunes Top Albums chart and seems likely to debut atop the Billboard 200 after its first seven days of activity are complete.
The highest region on the iTunes Top Songs chart is considerably busier. Grande is not among the highest-ranking contenders, although she does break into the loftiest tier with the title track from her latest project. The first four spaces are all occupied by new arrivals from several different genres, reflecting a wide variety of purchasing activity in the United States.
Sara Bareilles Leads the iTunes Chart
Sara Bareilles claims the top position with her new single “Still Crying,” which opens at No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart. The tune will be featured on her upcoming seventh album, Good Grief, which is due near the end of the summer. “Still Crying” follows “Home,” which was released earlier this year.
Sara Bareilles Blocks Cardi B From No. 1
Bareilles prevents Cardi B from reaching No. 1 on the iTunes Top Songs chart, at least for the moment. The rapper’s new single “AH HA” sits in second place, though it could climb to the peak position as Friday progresses.
“AH HA” is currently a standalone single and marks Cardi’s first major release of 2026. She spent much of the past several years promoting her long-awaited sophomore album, Am I the Drama?, which finally arrived in September 2025. That project produced several hit songs, but it has not delivered a new single since November.
Cardi B Charts Seven Versions of “AH HA”
Seven versions of “AH HA” appear on the iTunes Top Songs chart, which includes 200 rungs. Some seem to be duplicate listings of the standard recording, while others are clearly alternate editions released to help the track rack up as many purchases as possible before next week’s Billboard charts are compiled.
The original “AH HA” lands at Nos. 2 and 25. A slowed-down take appears at Nos. 29 and 52, while the sped-up edition can be found at Nos. 30 and 53. An instrumental version also comes close to entering the top 40, settling at No. 43.
Kenny Chesney and Riley Green Debut in the Top Five
Two country artists claim the next two positions. Kenny Chesney’s “Burn My Boat” and Riley Green’s “Imagine That” debut at Nos. 3 and 4, respectively.
Chesney also appears much farther down the 200-position ranking with “Carry On,” which sits at No. 105.
Green scores half a dozen wins in total. In addition to the No. 4 start of “Imagine That,” he appears at No. 20 alongside Ella Langley with “You Look Like You Love Me.” His songs “My Way” and “Think as You Drunk” follow at Nos. 65 and 66, respectively.
Beneath the upper half of the ranking, “Worst Way” drops dramatically to No. 100. “Go Again,” Green’s collaboration with Hannah McFarland, breaks back onto the roster at No. 182.
Ariana Grande Scores the Fifth-Highest Debut with “Petal”
Grande claims the fifth-highest debut – and last top 10 – inside the top tier on the iTunes Top Songs chart. “Petal,” the title track from her newly-released album, starts at No. 10.
It is the highest-ranking of 18 Grande tunes currently found on the tally. Every one of those songs comes from Petal, even though the collection contains only 12 tracks. Multiple versions of half a dozen songs are available, allowing several cuts to occupy a pair of positions at once. “Hate That I Made You Love Me,” “Kiss Me,” “Like I Do,” “Never Get Over Me,” “Petal” and “Stay” can all be found in more than one slot as Grande’s eighth album begins what will surely be a huge commercial run.
