The Food and Drug Administration has approved a new medication for pancreatic cancer patients called daraxonrasib, a once-daily pill that blocks RAS proteins and has been shown to double patient survival time when compared to standard chemotherapy treatment.

The medication, made by the biotech company Revolution Medicines and sold under the brand name Rasonque, was approved six months ahead of schedule on Wednesday as one of few treatment options available for pancreatic cancer, the fourth leading cause of cancer deaths in the United States.
