Today’s Wordle Answer: Wednesday, September 2

Today’s Wordle Etymology

“Ruler” comes from rule + -er (“one who rules”). Rule comes through Old French reule from Latin regula, meaning “straight stick, measuring rod, or standard,” from regere (“to guide, direct, keep straight”). Thus the meanings “governor” and “measuring stick” ultimately share the idea of keeping something straight or ordered.

Today’s Wordle Bot Analysis: Wednesday, September 2

Every day I check Wordle Bot to help analyze my guessing game. You can check your Wordle score with Wordle Bot right here.

SPARE was not a great opener today and CHOIR wasn’t much better. I still had 33 words after two guesses that I thought were pretty solid. DEMUR, alas, only slashed that number to 9 and TUBER left me with 3. Thankfully, I got lucky on Guess #5! RULER for the win!

Competitive Wordle Score

I get -1 for guessing in five and -1 for losing to the Bot. The Bot gets 0 for guessing in four and 1 for beating me. Our September totals widen:

Erik: -2 points

Wordle Bot: 1 point
