The Gentlemen season 2 has come and gone, as Netflix bingeable shows tend to, but it’s done well critically, with an 83% Rotten Tomatoes score, up from season 1. Viewership-wise, however, it does not seem to be doing as great. It debuted at #3 on Netflix’s top 10 list and has since sunk to #5. Not what you want to see for a show’s sophomore season.
So is The Gentlemen in trouble, then? No, not at all. A decision was made well before season 2 even aired that The Gentlemen would be renewed for season 3, so viewership, even if it drops, won’t affect those plans. One reason viewership may have fallen is that there were a full two-and-a-half years between the first two seasons of the show, which will create a significant drop-off. However, The Gentlemen’s season 3 release date? We won’t be waiting that long.
In order to avoid another enormous span of time between seasons, things are different this time around. The early renewal means that the show can start filming way earlier. A new interview with star Theo James says that filming for season 3 is “imminent.” What release date might that equate to?
After long delays, The Gentlemen season 2 production began in late May 2025, according to Netflix, before the show aired this past week in September 2026, a gap of around 15 months.

So, 15 months from now, or close to now, is early December 2027. A year and a quarter spacing is exactly half of what the last gap was, meaning there will be a far shorter wait for season 3, mercifully.
The Gentlemen season 3 has not been pitched as its final wrap-up season, just that the season exists. In theory, it seems like a property that its creator, Guy Ritchie, and stars would like to continue on indefinitely. It’s not like they’re adapting some sort of novel with a hard ending. But that is where season 2 viewership will matter. If it totally tanks, even if season 3 is coming, that may indicate early that they had better make that the last one, as you would not expect some huge out-of-nowhere surge for season 3 making season 4 seem like a great idea. Such is the nature of the business, whether a show is still producing quality content or not.
It seems like it would be wise for Netflix to give The Gentlemen a wide berth. The series has a stellar 8/10 on IMDb, with season 2 posting higher scores than season 1 across individual episodes. At least we know, if nothing else, season 3 is coming, and that’s way more than we can say for most Netflix series that aren’t out-the-door smash hits.
