Lady Gaga was one of the most nominated artists at the 2026 Grammys, and she entered the evening with seven chances to win. The superstar found herself tied with Jack Antonoff and Cirkut, two superstar producers and songwriters, for the second-most nods among all acts. They came in behind Kendrick Lamar, who happened to best Gaga in the Record of the Year field. His track “Luther” with SZA took home the prize, blocking her “Abracadabra” from becoming her first cut to claim that honor.
Gaga may return to the Grammys in 2027, though she will not be one of the top contenders. Last time around, her album Mayhem and several singles were up for trophies, but at the forthcoming event, Gaga only has a few tracks that are eligible to be nominated. One which could very well nab her multiple bits of recognition, may help her extend her standing as one of the most celebrated pop artists of all time.
Lady Gaga Could Return to the Grammys With “The Dead Dance”
Gaga released “The Dead Dance” in early September 2025, only a few days into the eligibility period that closed recently. The single, which she wrote and recorded for the Netflix series Wednesday, became a hit around the world, though not one of Gaga’s biggest. In the United States, the dark synth-pop tune barely broke into the top 40 on the Billboard Hot 100, where it peaked at No. 40, though it performed significantly better and rose into the top 10 on several other rankings focused on pop and dance music.
Lady Gaga May Earn a Fifth Pop Solo Grammy Nomination
“The Dead Dance” could bring Gaga back to the Best Pop Solo Performance category, one of the toughest fields at the Grammys. Gaga has been nominated in that area four times already and she’s aiming for a fifth.
Gaga first appeared in the category when the Recording Academy introduced a newly combined prize – many categories, like pop, used to be gendered – in 2012 with “You and I.” She returned half a dozen years later with “Million Reasons” before winning for the first time a year later with her tune “Joanne (Where Do You Think You’re Goin’?).” Gaga last competed for the honor only months ago, when “Disease,” the lead single from Mayhem, lost to “Messy” from newcomer Lola Young.
Lady Gaga Is Tied With Adele and Justin Bieber
Gaga is currently tied with four other artists for the third-most nominations in the history of the Best Pop Solo Performance category. She sits on the same level as Ariana Grande, Adele, Justin Bieber and Kelly Clarkson, with four nods apiece. Of that bunch, only Adele does not have anything to submit this time around, and Gaga may not be the only one of those stars to earn a fifth nomination.

Taylor Swift Could Move Ahead Again
Billie Eilish and Taylor Swift are tied for the most Best Pop Solo Performance nominations among all musicians, with five apiece. Eilish will likely be quiet this time around, but Swift may be one of the most nominated acts at the 2027 Grammys. Her album The Life of a Showgirl and several singles from the blockbuster will be submitted, and she could easily return to the Best Pop Solo Performance field.
Almost every solo track featured on The Life of a Showgirl could technically compete, though Swift is likely to focus on either “The Fate of Ophelia” or “Opalite,” the biggest smashes from the release, which both hit No. 1 on the Billboard Hot 100. Just as Gaga — and potentially Grande, Bieber or Clarkson — catches up to Swift’s historic five Best Pop Solo Performance nominations, Swift may very well pull ahead again and rewrite the order once more.
