Linkin Park’s debut album Hybrid Theory propelled the rockers to superstardom a quarter-century ago, and it has become the rare set from a rock act to never fade from popularity. Hybrid Theory typically lives on multiple rankings on both sides of the Atlantic, and it is often counted as one of the most successful rock or hard rock collections in the United Kingdom.
That’s the case again this frame, as the Grammy-winning outfit’s first proper full-length reaches an incredibly rare milestone.
Linkin Park’s Hybrid Theory Reaches 1,100 Weeks
Hybrid Theory climbs three spaces on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart, the look at the most popular full-lengths and EPs in those styles in the U.K. Last time around, it sat at No. 10 and this frame the collection surges to No. 7.
This frame is especially important for Hybrid Theory, as it celebrates 1,100 weeks as one of the 40 most-consumed rock titles in that country.
Hybrid Theory Is Linkin Park’s Longest-Running Success
Hybrid Theory is far and away Linkin Park’s longest-running success on the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. No other title from the group has managed 500 frames – though Meteora is close, with 471 stints on the tally to its credit.
Only one other release by Linkin Park, Minutes to Midnight, has managed triple-digit stays on the genre-focused tally. That title has held on for 223 weeks.
Hybrid Theory has spent almost as much time on the roster as all of Linkin Park’s 14 other projects combined. It may be only a matter of months before the introductory set manages that feat of popularity.
Hybrid Theory Climbs on Four Additional Charts
Hybrid Theory appears on another four U.K. charts this week, and it climbs on all of them – sometimes by 10 spaces or more and in other cases by only one or two rungs. The full-length rises to Nos. 43, 44, 78 and 92 on the Official Physical Albums, Official Albums Sales, Official Albums and Official Albums Streaming charts, respectively.
Linkin Park’s first full-length has racked up hundreds of weeks on most of the charts on which it appears, but not all of them. It is nearing only 20 frames on the Official Albums Streaming tally, and next period will likely make it to 300 turns as one of the top-selling releases on any physical format, be it CD, cassette or vinyl.
Linkin Park Charts Three Albums on the Rock Ranking
Linkin Park claims three spaces on the current edition of the Official Rock & Metal Albums chart. Meteora climbs one spot to No. 26, while Minutes to Midnight reenters at No. 40. Minutes to Midnight can only be found on that sole roster, while Meteora also climbs on the Official Albums Streaming and Official Albums charts, landing at Nos. 82 and 83, respectively.
One other title by Linkin Park, Papercuts (Singles Collection 2000–2023), is also a winner across the Atlantic, and it sits just a few spaces beneath the top 10 on the only two tallies where it appears. The greatest hits compilation dips one rung to No. 12 on the Official Albums Streaming chart and climbs two spaces to No. 16 on the Official Albums list.
Linkin Park Fills Seven Spaces on the Rock Singles Chart
As is typically the case, Linkin Park fills more spaces on the related Official Rock & Metal Singles chart than any other act. Seven tracks chart together this week: “Numb” at No. 6, “Faint” at No. 9, “Somewhere I Belong” at No. 13, “What I’ve Done” at No. 15, “The Emptiness Machine” at No. 28, “One Step Closer” at No. 32 and “Crawling” at No. 34.
