It’s the beginning of a new tracking week in the music industry, as is the case every Friday. For years now, the global music industry has worked on a Friday-to-Thursday basis, with most artists dropping new projects and singles as Thursday turns to Friday. That gives their latest offerings a full seven days in which to sell and stream well, and all of that consumption then feeds charts managed by Billboard in America – and in several other territories – as well as similar organizations around the planet.
There are quite a few notable debuts on the iTunes Top Albums chart, the ranking of the top-selling full-lengths and EPs of any style from any artist on that one platform in the United States. iTunes is not the only important sales platform still around in today’s streaming-focused economy, but it is perhaps the most popular.
As one pop star returns and nearly nabs another No. 1, several other musical favorites mount comebacks with new bestsellers.
Miley Nearly Launches Her Album at No. 1 on iTunes
Miley scores the loftiest entry on the iTunes Top Albums chart this Friday, and she nearly launches her latest at No. 1. Bass Persuades settles at No. 2. The full-length is stuck behind Jhené Aiko’s latest album Westside Whimsy, which was released a week ago and is stationary on top.
Two tracks by Miley appear on the iTunes Top Songs tally, and both share a name with the album. “Bass Persuades” dips to No. 33, while a remix recently shared by the superstar declines to No. 94.
Six Albums Debut Inside the iTunes Top 10
Bass Persuades is one of half a dozen debuts inside the iTunes Top Albums roster’s top 10. The other five all sit side-by-side, launching next to one another.

AZ Chike’s No Rest for the Wicked, Riley Green’s That’s Just Me, Anthrax’s Cursum Perficio, Carly Rae Jepsen’s Day and Night and Beck’s latest Ride Lonesome enter the sales tally at Nos. 4, 5, 6, 7 and 8, respectively.
Riley Green Fills Seven Spaces on the iTunes Top Songs Chart
AZ Chike also finds space on the iTunes Top Songs ranking with his Tyler, the Creator collaboration “Look Like My Mama,” which lands at No. 135.
Green occupies seven spaces on the list of the bestselling tracks on iTunes, with both newer cuts and several that helped make him a country superstar. The highest-ranking of the bunch is “Think As You Drunk,” which climbs into the highest quarter of the tally and lands at No. 46. One of his two team-ups with Ella Langley, “You Look Like You Love Me,” also finds a spot within that region, dipping to No. 50.
Ariana Grande, Noah Kahan and Macklemore Return to the Top 10
The other three spots within the iTunes Top Albums chart’s top 10 that are not yet accounted for all contain previous bestsellers. Ariana Grande’s Petal – The Complete Live Album drops one spot to No. 3, replaced by Miley’s Bass Persuades. Noah Kahan’s Stick Season (Forever) bolts back into the region, landing one spot above Macklemore and Ryan Lewis, who saw their Grammy-winning album The Heist explode in popularity amid Macklemore’s recent tour drama with Ed Sheeran.
