The race for the No. 1 album in America this week was one of the tightest of all time. Miley scores another leader on the Billboard 200 with Bass Persuades – her first under the mononym Miley.

Ella Langley also competed for another turn at the summit with Dandelion, which instead settles for second place. Rising country talent and frequent Langley collaborator Riley Green hits the highest tier for the first time with That’s Just Me, which kicks off its time on the roster at No. 3.

The trio of popular projects was separated by an incredibly small number of equivalent units. Billboard’s methodology for the chart incorporates both sales and streaming activity, as well as purchases of individual tunes featured on those releases, and they’re reported as equivalent units. Looking at this frame’s final totals, the gap between the top three is minuscule.

Fewer Than 100 Units Separate the Nos. 1 and 2 Albums

Billboard reports that Bass Persuades launches at No. 1 on the Billboard 200 with 61,000 equivalent units. That figure is rounded up, as Luminate reports the final sum at a little more than 60,900.

Dandelion shifted nearly the exact same amount when rounded, also finishing with 61,000 equivalent units. In actual consumption, though, Langley’s collection managed just 70 units fewer than Miley.

That’s Just Me follows at No. 3 with a rounded 59,600. Miley ended up on top – and Green in third place – thanks to only a little more than 1,300 equivalent units.

The Top Three Are Separated by Tiny Percentages

The differences between the albums become even more striking when viewed as percentages. Miley’s Bass Persuades outpaces Dandelion by only about one-tenth of 1%. The gap between the No. 1 release and Green’s That’s Just Me in third place comes in at a little more than 2%.

Green didn’t miss starting his latest LP in second place by much, either. Dandelion and That’s Just Me are separated by almost 1,250 equivalent units – a difference of roughly 2%.

Miley Scores Her Sixth No. 1 Album in America

Miley has now scored half a dozen No. 1s on the Billboard 200, and Bass Persuades is her first leader in more than a decade. She first conquered the tally 20 years ago, almost to the month, when the original Hannah Montana soundtrack reached the summit. The following year, Hannah Montana 2/Meet Miley Cyrus also rose to No. 1.

Less than a full year later, in 2008, Breakout spent one frame in first place. Then, in 2009, Hannah Montana: The Movie quickly shot to the summit, giving Miley her fourth ruler in just as many years. She then had to wait until 2013 for Bangerz to command the roster, and it’s been 13 years since that Grammy-nominated effort earned its sole moment in the spotlight.

Ella Langley Nearly Returns to No. 1

Langley was looking to return to the peak position with Dandelion, her sophomore full-length and first leader. The project, which has enjoyed huge commercial success thanks in large part to lead single “Choosin’ Texas” — the longest-running No. 1 of all time on the Billboard Hot 100 — debuted in first place in April.

Throughout its 24 weeks somewhere on the Billboard 200, Dandelion has spent three of them at No. 1. The country blockbuster regularly appears very close to the throne, but more often than not it settles for a space within the top five instead.

Dandelion brought Langley not only to the highest spot but into the top 10 for the first time. Her debut full-length, Hungover, peaked at No. 20 just one week before its follow-up arrived.

Green, meanwhile, breaks into the top 10 on the most competitive albums chart in America for the first time as That’s Just Me begins its run at No. 3. Previously, Don’t Mind If I Do stood as his only top 40 success, stalling at No. 25 after launching in that rung in November 2024. The country singer-songwriter has now racked up a total of eight appearances on the Billboard 200, and half of them have failed to crack the upper half of the 200-space rundown.

Bass Persuades Sweeps Four Billboard Charts

Miley manages a clean sweep in the U.S. this week with Bass Persuades. The full-length debuts on four Billboard rankings, and it kicks off its time at No. 1 on each and every one of them.

In addition to conquering the Billboard 200, Bass Persuades rules the Top Album Sales, Vinyl Albums and Top Dance Albums charts. The project gives Miley her sixth leader on the purchase-focused Top Album Sales roster, her fourth on the vinyl-only tally and her second on the dance-specific ranking.
